Be it known that I, Trrnonon Dnuznaorr, a citizen of Germany, and resident of New Durham, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Amusement Devices, of which the following is a specification.

The present invention relates to amusement devices, and has for its main object to provide a simple and inexpensive contrivance for producing the representation of a human face when mounted upon the back of the hand of the entertainer.

Another object of the invention is to provide a device of this type which is simple in operation and capable of manufacture on a commercial scale, or in other words one which is not so difficult to produce as to be beyond the reasonable cost of an amusement device.

With these and other objects in view, which will more fully appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the combination, arrangement and construction of parts hereinafter described, pointed out in the appended claim and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, it being understood that many changes may be made in the size and proportion of the several parts and details of construction, within the scope of the appended claim, without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.

Two of the many possible embodiments of the invention are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of a device constructed in accordance with the present invention; Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof; Fig. 3 is a perspective view illustrating; the

mode of operation of the device; Fig. 41- is l a perspective view of a modified construction; and Fig. 5 is aside elevation of the device shown in Fig. 4.

Referring now first to Figs. 1 to 3, in-- elusive, of the drawings, the device consists of a base 10, preferably a U-shaped member, upon the free ends of the legs of which are formed the representations 11 of the eyes of a human face. member and carries the representation 13 of the nose of a human face, said nose extending at right angles to the general plane of the U-shaped member, as clearly shown in the several figures of the drawings. The device described may be made of any suitable material, suitably painted, for instance in flesh color.

In use, the U-shaped member 10 is inserted between and gripped by the middleand ring-fingers of the hand (Fig. 3), the representations 11 of the eyes and the representation 13 of the nose appearing upon the back of the hand, A bunch of hair or similar material 14 is then inserted between and gripped by the ringand little-fingers, after which a piece of fabric 15, such as a handkerchief, is wrapped partly around the hand (Fig. 3), whereby a very effective representation of a human face is produced, the gap between the middle-finger and theforefinger of the hand representing the mouth of the face and the fore-finger itself the ch n portion thereof.

The device illustrated in Figs. i and 5 of the drawings differs from the one above described in that, instead of a U-shaped base member, an H-shaped base member 16 is provided, carrying two sets of eyes 17 and 18, with which c0-operate noses 19 and 20, respectively. One set of eyes and the nose co-operating therewith may be of a color differing from that of the other set of eyes and nose.

When using this device, one set of eyes and the corresponding nose will appear on the back of the hand of the entertainer, and the other set of eyes and its nose on the palm-side of the hand. In this manner the representation of two different faces may be obtained, the change being made quickly by shifting the piece of fabric, for instance the handkerchief, from one side of the hand to the other side. a
