HARRY FRANCIS WAGNER, 0F MIDDLETOWN, NEiV YQRK, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO L. MOB-TIMER HULSE, OF MIDDIIETQWN: NEW YORK,
LUMINOUS noBBEn.

To ceZZ to 710m it may concern- Be it known that I, HARRY FRANCIS Nee- NER, a citizen of the United States, residing at, Middletown, in the county of Orange and State of NeivYork, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Luminous Dobbers, of which the followingis a specification.
This invention relates to a dobber or float for use in angling, and has for its object to provide a device of such class, in
a manner as hereinafter set forth, whereby the dobber or float will be clearly discernible byuthe angler, especially at night.
The invention further aims to provide a device of suchclass, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, with a luminous or light producing element whereby the position of the dobber or float can be quickly and read ily ascertained by the angler, especially at ni ht.
urther objects of theinvention are to provide a dobber or float for the purpose set forth, which is extremely simple in its construction and arrangement, strong, durable, eflicient in its use, readily connected to the line, and inexpensive to manufacture.
WVith the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter more specifically described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein is shown an embodiment of the invention, but it is to be understood that changes, variations,'and modifications can be resorted to which come withinthe scope of the claims hereunto appended.
In the drawings wherein like reference characters denote corresponding parts throughout the several views Figure l is an elevation of a dobber or float in accordance with this invention.
Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view thereof, and
Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view of a modified form.
Referring to Figs. 1 and 2 of the draw- Positioned against the ledge 8 and abut ting against the shoulder 7, as well as being her 9, preferably formed of celluloid", and
can, either be transparent or translucent.
The cap member 9 is extended from the body portion 4, and has its inner face coated with any suitable luminous or light producing substance, as indicated at 10. The cap member 9, centrally thereof, has an opening 11, which alines with the bore 5 in the body portion 4.
Projecting through the cap member 9, and.
body portion 4, is a stem 12. The latter is mounted in the opening 11 and bore 5, and projects above the cap member 9 and below the body portion 4, and is, secured to the body portion '4 in any suitable manner. The line, not shown, is adapted to be connected to the ends of the stem 12.
The luminous coating 10 on the inner face of the cap member 9, illuminates the float to such a degree, that it can be readily and quickly discerned by the angler to ascertain its position.
' The modified form shown in Fig. 3, is similar to the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 2, with this exception, the buoyant body portion is indicated at 13 and is proshown in connection with Figs. 1 and 2.
What I claim is 1. A dobber or float comprising a body portion constructed of wood, a celluloid cap member. secured thereto and projecting therefrom, a coating of luminous material on the inner face of said member and visible therethrough, and a wooden stem projecting through said cap member and said body portion.
. 2. A dobber or float comprising a buoyant body portion, a cap member secured to one end thereof, said cap member projecting from said body portion, a luminous coatingapplied to the inner face of said cap member and visible therethrough, and a stem projecting through said cap member and body portion.
3. A dobber or float comprising a semielliptical buoyant oody portion, said body portion having a boss at one end providing an annular shoulder and an annular ledge,
acep member secured to one end of said body portion and abutting againt said shoulder and seating on said ledge, said cap projecting from said body portion, aluminous coatingepplied to the inner fare of said cap and visible therethrough, and a stem extending through said cap and body 10 portion. 7 p
In testimony whereof, I affix my signature hereto.
HARRY FRANCIS ".VAG IER.
