Description

Patented Nov.. 2l, 1922.
MESROB S. MAMOULAN, OF NEVI YORK, N. Y.
AMUSEMENT DEVICE.
Application led August 31, 1921.
To all Iwwm t may concern:
Be it known that I, Mnsno MAMOU- LIAN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough (i of the Bronx, county of Bronx, and State of New York, have invented a new and lmproved Amusement Device, of which the folowing is a description.
The general object of my invention is to provide a novel device that will aEord amusement especially to a group of young people and which will be a source of merriment by displaying an infinite variety of combinations, items of information, topical contributions, a simulation of fortune telling, or the like, in a diverting manner.
The nature of the invention and its distinctive features and advantages will clearly appear as the description proceeds.
Reference is had to the accompanying drawings it being understood that the drawings are merely illustrative of one example of the invention.
Figure 1 is a face view of an amusement device embodying my invention, a portion of the front being broken away;
Figure 2 is a section on the line 2--2, Figure 1.
In carrying out my invention in accordance with the illustrated example, a preferably oblong structure is provided, comprising a back 10 and a front 11, the front or back at the top and bottom being turned over to close the structure at the longitudinal side edges as indicated at 12. rlhe front 11 is maintained spaced above the back by means of transverse partition strips 13 forming with each other slideways and the outermost strips 13 forming additional slideways with end strips 13a, a series of slideways being thus provided and running transversely of the structure.
In each slideway is a card 14, the side edges having guided engagement with the strips 13, 18, and each slide has secured thereto the shank 15 of an operating button or like device 16. Said Shanks extend through the vertical slots 17 in the front 11, there being a slot 17 for the operating device of each card.
Each card is divided into transverse parallel zones 1S, each zone bearing a number or other identifying symbol, the series of identifying symbols running in order, as for example, 1 to 10. A row of indicating symbols 19 is produced on the front 11 along Serial N0. 49 7,176.
each slot 17, corresponding with the symbols of the zones 18 but in the reverse order.
In the front 11 is produced at each card a longitudinal sight opening 2O adjacent to the longitudinal medial line of the structure, the openings being of a width to display each a single zone of a card 14.
rlhe zones 18 have each reading matter thereon or other matter to be displayed and the device is utilized by each of the players selecting a number arbitrarily made u of combinations of the numbers on the :ront 11, whereupon the respective operating devices 16 are moved to the index symbols 19 to represent the selected number, thereby displaying at the sight openings 2O a succession of zones 18 with the various reading matter thereon.
I would state in conclusion that while the illustrated example constitutes a practical embodiment of my invention, do not limit myself strictly to the exact details herein illustrated, since, manifestly, the same can be considerably varied without departure from the spirit of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, l claim:
1. As a new article of manufacture an amusement device including a structure having a back and front, transverse partitions spacing the back and front from each other and forming parallel slideways between the back and front, said front having a longitudinal opening at each slideway and having parallel vertical slots, cards slidable in said slideways to a position concealed by the front or to dispose given zones of the respective card at the said openings, and card-operating devices movable in said slots and xed to said cards, said cards divided into transverse zones presenting each different reading matter, the zones having identifying symbols and there being vertical rows of corresponding symbols on the front of the structure in the reverse order of the symbols on the cards.
2. As a new article of manufacture an amusement device of the character described having a front formed with a longitudinal series of sight openings and with vertical slots, and a series of cards slidable beneath said front and each divided into transverse zones bearing identifying symbols in series, 110 said zones presenting each its distinctive reading matter and operating devices on may he displayed at the sight openings, a portion at a time, operating means o-n the slides to move the same past the sight openings there being distinguishing indicating marks on the device at the front thereof at each slideway, and spaced to correspond with portions of the display matter so that a series of indicating marks may he selected one at each slideway and the operating means moved to given indicating marks thereby exhibiting certain of the display matter of each slide at the sight openings.
