fiA'hl'EllARY HGLDEE FOR COLLAPEIELE TUBES.
Application exec Hovember 6, 1920. Serial lto. 422,350.
To all 'wlwmit may concern:
Be it known that l, Cm. A. PRICE, a citizen of the United Eitates, residing at Washington, in the District of Columbia, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Sanitary Holders for Colof which the following is a the accompanying drawing. 1
This inventionrelates to improvements in sanitary holders for collapsihle tubes containing tooth and shavin paste, one object of the invention being is e provision of a device of this character in which the tube is supported with the outlet end downward with means for compressing-thetube from the held end toward the outlet end so that a selected amount of paste may be ejected as desired, there being novel resilient means for closing the outlet mouth of the tube but permitting the removal of the paste by the use of a tooth brush or shaving brush.
A further object of this invention is the provision of a neat, compact, ornamental, in-
expensive and practical device of this char-- acter which may be supported from the wall in a bath room or may be carried as a travelers companion. Y
in the accompanying drawings:
Figure .1 is a front elevation of the complete device.
Figure 2 is a section taken on line 2-2 thereof. 4
Figures 3, l and 5, are detail views.
Referring to the drawings, the numeral designates a casing having a closure or door 11. Mounted in this casing adjacent the upper forward top thereof is the twomembered clamping device 12 which may he of any construction but here shown as comprising a stationary member 13 and a removable resilient clamping door or'memher it, the latter member having one end tree so that the turned edge 15 of the tuhe'l may he inserted against the bar 13 so that the member 14 may be snapped in place and thus support the'tube vertically within the cabinet.
Connected to the back of the casing near the lower portion thereof, is a late 16 having the attaching leg 17 and t e depending outwardly curvedresilient lid 18 which is adapted to fit below and resiliently hear against the outlet screw-cap receiving end 19 of the tube, thus normally holding the same closed at all times. The lever 18 is curved transversely as at 20 and is thin enough to permit of the introduction of a tooth brush below the outlet end 19 to receive the paste thereon. Where the tube is used for the supplying of shaving paste, the lid 18 is considerably wider to accommodate the size of the brush.
In order to provide a means for compressing the tube from the upper end down so as to eject the paste therefrom, any well known clamping means may be employed, but as here shown, there are provided two pairs of rack teeth 21 and 22 upon each longitudinal wall of the casing 10 adjacent the front edge thereof, while engaging the receiving racks are gears 24 and 25. Two gears of each type meshing with each other and meshing with the respective racks 21 and 22 so that the compressing rollers 26 and 27 carried thereby and disposed one upon each side of the tube T may be rotated through the operation of the winged head 28 connected by the stem 2'9 to either roller 2601' 27 and projected through the longitudinal slot 30 or the casing 10. By this means as the winged head 28 is rotated the rollers will rotate in unison and due to the racks 21 and 22 will cause the rollers to be moved downwardly as well as be rotated in unison, thus compressing the tube and the e'ection of the desired amount of paste from t e outlet 19.
Where desired a single rack may he employed and resilient means provided to our hrace the rollers and hold them toward each other in operable meshing condition.
When placing the tube between the rollers the headed stem 28 is rotated in an opposite direction and is removable through the slot so that front rollers 26 may he moved out- So wardly to permit the tube to he placed hetween the rollers, the roller 26 then pushed backward and the stem 29 engaged therewith.
It is also possible to dispense with the casing 10 and provide a type of supportingmeans to carry the elements, without departing from the spirit or" the invention.
v at I claim as new is:
i. A device of this character including a supports two-inembered clamp for engaging the sealed'ehjd of a tube, a resilient lid tor closino the outlet end of the tube, and
. I I a compressing memher carrying operating means interposed between the two and movahle loncitudinally of the support for embracing the tales,
2. A device of this character including a support, a two-membered clamp for engaging the sealed end of a tube, a, resilient lid for closing theoutlet end of the tube, and a 5 compressing member inter osed between the two and movable longitudinally of the suport for embracing the tube, sald latter mem r including two rollers one upon each side of the tube and operably connected to- ]0 gether for rotation inunison. Y
3. A device of this characterincluding a support,'a two-membered' clamp for engag-.
ing the sealed end of a tube a resilient lid for closing the outlet end oi the tube, and
a compressing member interposed between 15.
the two and car in operating means and movable lon itu ina 1y of the support for embracing the tube, said resilient member constituting a-plate having a resilient free terminal projecting downwardly and out- 20 wardly.
In testimony whereof I afiix m y signatui'e. CHARLES A. PRICE.
