A comin-oa type ot' sliding door control consists of a link pivoted to the slow door and a link pivoted to the tast door and to one end ol2 the slow door link. This .system of linkage forms a type of toggle mechanism wherebyi when the toggle is broken, the two doors are actuated. il. spring oiosor and check is usually, though not alwaysy provided with such mechanism.

while admissible for' very slight variations in the distance between the side of the door opening;v and the wall plate. is not satisfactory where the variation is relatively large, since varying the length of this toggle link which is connected to the wall bracket will cause one of the doors to reach its extreme position before the other door, and consequently the full extent of the door opening cannot be realized.
It is an object of my present invention to overcome to a large extent the ditliculties above indicated, and to provide means whereby the door control mechanism may be made and assembled at the factory, ready for ap plcation to the doors, with the assurance that when applied said doors will operate properly and will open and close as intended. thereby sa ving greatly in cost oiu manufacture and installation.

A further Objectis to obviate the necessity oit' determining the pivot point on a slow door bracket for each particular installation, and'in place thereof to pr( vidc an adjustable slowdoor bracket, whereby the pivot point on the slow door may be adjusted and the slow door accurately positioned.
The above objects may be accomplished by means oi' the mechanism herein disclosed.

5 indicates the so called tast77 door of a pair ot' sliding doors. called slow7 door. No means et supportA ing' these doors has been shown, since this type of door and supporting means therefor are well known in the art and need no specific description.
A link 7 is pivotally connected at 8 to the 6 indicates the soy fast door. A second link 9 is pivotally connected at 10 to the slow door, through the medium of arms 26-v-27 later described. 11 is a lever which is pivotally supported from a wall at 12. The link 9 is pivoted to the link 7 at 13 and to the lever 11 at 14.
v 'lhe pivot point 12 for the xed end of the toggle system is adjustably mounted relatively to the supporting wall. In the specific disclosure I have shown al wall plate 15 having apertures 16 to receive meansi'for securing the plate t-o a proper support or wall. 17 indicates an abutment plate. This plate may be provided with means, such as the ears 18, 18, forforming the fixed pivot point 12. In the specific instance shown ears 19 have been provided for attachment of the lower` end of a door closer and check 20. The piston rod of this door closer and check is connected at 21 to an ear on the lever 11.
Suitable means, such as rods 22, 22 extend from the wall plate 15 and pass through suitable, passages in the abutment plate 17.
yThese supporting rods 22 have been shown threaded, and .the abutment plate 17 is held on these rods, as by means of nuts 23, 24 on opposite sides ot the plate and in screw threaded engagement with said rods. It will be seen that by varyingl the positions of the nuts on the rods the abutment plate 17 may be secured in various adjusted positions to and fro for the purpose later described. In the specific instance shown the abutment plate 17 has been shown as supported by two rods, but it should be understood that the number is immaterial so long as the plate is given substantial support.
In the form shown one end ot' the lever 11 is supported in alignment with one of the rods 22, and l have shown au aperture 25 in the'lever to clear the end ot one ot .the rods 22 when the lever is in the uppermost position.
Means for pivoting the slow door to the bracket at l() in the form shown comprises arms 26, 27, coming together at their ends and connected with the link 9, as by means of the pin or bolt 28. A securing plate 29 is provided for-each of the arms and may be secured to the edge of the slow door in any suitable manner, as by means of the screws 30. upporting bars 31 are :tormed integrally wlth or secured in any suitable manner toieach ofthe arms 26, 27, which bars are adjustably (annected to the mounting plates 29, 29 to govern offset. In the form shown the bars 31 pass through suitable apertures in the plates 29, and means, such as the set screws 32, 32, are provided to hold the pins in various positions of adjustment.
It is obvious that if the plates 29 are separated farther apart than shown in Fig. 2 the door section 6 would be moved to the left with respect to the'pivot l0. By this means the position of the door section 6 relatively to the adjacent sections or the casing may be properly adjusted. It will thus be seen that the proper relative positions of the doors 5, 6 may be accurately determined by simply spreading the arms 26, 27 relatively to each other to the proper degree, until the proper positions of the doors have been found. So, also, this arrangement makes it possible to adjust the linkage to doors adapted to different widths 'of openings.
The operation is as follows:
IVhen the toggle is broken, as by means of drawing down on the handle 35, the link mechanism4 lwill assume, in the extreme open-door position, the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 2, and both doors will be fully drawn back so as to overstand one another. YIt a door-closing spring is provided in the member 20, this spring-will be stressed during the opening movement. If now the doors be released, the spring will draw downwardly on the lever 11 and the doors will be moved back to the closed position shown in yfull lines in Fig. 2.
It will be seen that by the provision of the adjustableabutment plate 17 the complete dom'oj')erating mechanisms may be assembled in the factory, and when installed may be easily adjusted to overcome any slight .errors such as usually found in buildings constructed to receive such door-control apparatus, It will also be seen that the means for adjusting the ,pivot point -on the slow door will permit variations in the sizes of individual doors to be compensated for, which adjustment of the bars 31, 31, Will compensate for differences in offset. It will also he noted that all of. these varieus ad justments may be made without disturbing the effective centers of the toggle linkage.
IVhile I have gone into great detail in disclosing;- specific forms of my invention, I
do not wish to be limited thereto, for obvlously many changes may be made within the scope-ol the invention defined in the appended claims.
I claim:
1. In a. door control for sliding doors, the combination with a tast and slow door, of aI link pivoted tothe tast door, a second link pivoted to the slow door and to said firstmentioned link, and a lever pivoted to; the link on the slow door and to a rigid abutment, resilient means for moving the links 1n 'one direction, and means for adjusting the pivot point onsaid rigid abutment wherey y said link -meehanism will be bodily adjusted to .and fro.

16. As an article'of manufacture, a bracket for attachment to a door and for attachment to door-actuating mechanism, comprising a pair of arms, and means for attaching said arms to a door, said means being adjustable relatively to said arms.

As an article of manufacture, a bracket for attachment to a door and for pivotal connection to door-actuating mechanism. comprising an arm, a plate for attachment to a door, sind arm being adjustably connected to said plate, and means for securing said arm in various positions'of adjustnient relatively to said plate.
