Application filed April 15, 1922. 7 Serial No. 553,116.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that SAMUEL .BONAT and HARRY BONAT, citizens of the United States residinp' at New York city, in the county oi New Y brk and State of New York. have invented certain new and useful Improvements in lVigs, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
Our invention relates to improvements in toupees or wigs, and more particularly has reference to the manner of joining or connecting the several sections thereon. Heretotore it has been the pactice to mount the sections of the toupee upon a backing; or support of fabric, to which the hair is attached, but this is cumbersome and nncomtortable to the wearer, needlessly heating: the scalp, and rendering a toupee less adaptable for manipulation and dressing". According to a preferred embodiment of our invention a toupee of say 3 sections is preferably oined at the center in triangular Formation, leaving the center open, and avoiding the necessity of a backing or support in the way of fabric or the like, thus reducing the weight of the same upon the head, and providing for ventilation, etc.
In accompanying; drawing. we have illustrated a suitable form of toupee having; three sections. with the sides of the ends joinin forming a triangle open at the center where the strands or hairs are braided, securely retaining the several sections together, and after which any one of the tions may be thrown over the open center in the dressing of the hair.
Referring to said drawings 1, 2 and 3 in dicate the three sections of the toupee con-, nected at their adjacent ends, as indicated at 4, 5 and 6, leaving a triangular opening in the center 7, over which any one of the sections such as 8 may be laid in dressing the hair. 01 course, it will be understood that modifications may be made. in the construction and arrangement of parts, without departing from the spirit of the invention as claimed.
We claim:
'1. In a wig oi the cl ass described, several sections having their adjacent ends con nected, forming a central opening from which said "ections extend outwardly.
2. In a wig oi the class described, several sections having their adjacent ends conneeted, forming a central opening from which said sections extend outwardly, said. sections oi three in number, and said opening of triiingular formation.
3. in a wig ot the class described, several sections having: their adjacent ends coin nected, forming a central opening from which said sections extend outwardly, said sections of three in number, and said opening of triangular formation; in a wig oi: the class described several. sections connectedat and extending outwardly irom the center, said sections cmniected without a backin SrJ/HJEL RONA. HARRY BONAT.
