To all whom it may concern Be it known that FRANK 0. lsAAosoN and EDWARD B. LEnrRoM, citizens of the United States of America, residing at Kansas City, in the county of Wyandotte and State of Kansaahave invented new and useful l[m provements in Window Awnings, of which the following is a specification.
The object o-fthe invention is to provide a simple, inexpensive and efficient awning suitable for window and door openings,
' which shall have an increased durability-in use as well as economical in construction and maintenance as compared with awnings as in' the usual practice which employ canwas or awning cloth as the covering material, and furthermore to provide an awning of such construction as to adapt it, without .de-
' terioration to be allowed to remain in position permanently as distinguished from those structures .now in use which are removed or dismounted during the winter season andwhich, therefore, aresubject to frequent handling in hanging and removing which serves to shorten the term of usefulness thereafter; and with these objects in view theinvention consists in the construction and combination of parts of which a.

The device consists essentially of a lu rality of telescoping sector-shaped sections or members embod ing the marginal memhers- 10 and 11 an any desired number of intermediate sections or members 12, having the side wings 13 connected by common pivots 14, the marginal section 10 being adapted for rigid attachment by means of nails, screws or like fastening devices 15 to the casing 16 of the window or door. The
sections are. provided respectively at their inner or'rear edges with the outwardly directed flanges 17 and at their outer edges with the inwardly directedflanges 18 to the end that the outwardly directed flange 17 of each intermediate and the free marginal sections 12 and 11 are adapted for engagement with the inwardly directed'fla nges 18 of the adjoining sections or members, when the awning is extended to limit the relative movements thereof as will be obvious by reference to Figures 1 and 2. The outwardly directed flange 17 of the rear or station+ ary section or member being secured to the fixed support or casing of the window or door serves when the foldable sections or members are extended to maintain the awning in its operatlve position and said fixed section ormember forms a housing for the foldable sections or members when the latter are collapsed or telescoped, such folding or telescoping movement being effected by means of operating cords 19 extending over a double pulley 20 at one side of the structure and a single pulley 21 at the opposite side thereof, the extremities of said'cords' being secured to lugs 22 on the outer marginal section or member 11, which together with the intermediate sections is provided on the front ed es of the side wings with flanges 23.
