LABEL CABINET.
Application filed March 2S, 1921. Serial No. 456,394.
To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, SAMUEL R. KRAMER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Perkasie, in the county of Bucks, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Label Cabinet, of which. the following is a specification.
My invention consists of a device for conveniently presenting labels of various purposes as required, the same embodying a cabinet adapted to support boxes in which labels of different characteristics are contained, said boxes being provided with outlets through which required labels as required may be successively withdrawnl and delivered for attachment to a place of service without displacing the boxes from the cabinet, thus providing a convenient, handy, practical, eflicient and attractive device for the business of shipping, packing and other purposes.
The invention is satisfactorily illustrated in the accompanying drawings, but the important instrumentalities thereof may` be varied, and so it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the specific details shown and described, as long as they are 'within the spirit or scope 0f the claim.
Figure l represents a perspective View of a label cabinet embodying my invention.
Figure 2 represents a perspective view of one -of the boxes employed, the same being in open condition. p
Figure 33 represents a horizontal section on. line 3-3 Figure. l.
Figure 4 represents a vertical section on line i-4 Figure 3.
Similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in the figures.
Referring to the drawings.
l designates a cabinet with shelves 2 therein, 3 designates a series of boxes which are adapted to be placed inthe cabinet side by side on said shelves, and the bottom of the cabinet and adapted to contain rolls 4 of labels, the fronts of said boxes having pasted or gummed thereon the labels 5 which indicate the nature of the labels of the rolls within the boxes.
The labels of the rolls are printed on strips of paper or other material perforated between adjacentv labels as at 6 so that a label may be readily torn off and used for Vthe respective purpose, thus the box in the lower right corner of the cabinet, Figure l,
contains a roll of labels for work requiring rushf and so the label 7 torn ofi' the roll 1n said box has printed thereon the word Rush corresponding to the indicating label from the boxes kthe latter has each in its side the throat S through which a label may be withdrawn, the roll unwinding or unrolling in the box, and then when it is out to the required extent, it may be torn off on either side Wall of said throat as a bearing therefor on the line of perforations 6 when a short stub of the next label may remain in the throat ready to be engaged by the lingers or nails of the hand of the operator so that said next label when required may be drawn out through the throat, without interference Ef the adjacent box orthe removal of either Attention is drawn to the fact that the front wall of a box is foreshortened and a sliding lid 9 comprises a side of the box, said lid when open providing access to the interior of the box to supply the latter with a roll of labels, said lid having on its top, bottom and inner edges the tongues l() which may enter grooves l1 in the top, bottom and rear walls of the box to retain the lid on the box and permit it to be slidable out and in.
l/Vhen the box is closed, the front end portion l2 of the lid is adjacent to the throat 8 and so comprises a wall of said throat whose other wall is the lbreshortened end of the front wall of the box, hence said throat has opposite walls on the sides thereof against which the label may be pressed at the perforations 6 to strip it 0H when drawn out.
The rolls are well inclosed in the boxes and protected in the main from dust, es-
10 throat, the latter being formed by 4i'oreshortening said Wall towards the outer tez"i minal of said 11d, the edge of sind foreshortened wall comprising one side of said' throat and the inner 'face of the outer terminal of said 11d comprising the other Side of seid throat. Y
` SAMUEL R. KRAMER.
