'As a result, bag frames, as now ordinarily constructed, are structurally weak at this point and are easily bent out of shape or broken.

It is one of the objects of the present invention to overcome this objectionable feature and provide a bag frame in which the recessed portion of the frame is reenforced in a manner to greatly strengthen the weak portion without materially increasing theweight of the parts or interfering with the mounting of the frame in the bag of which it forms a part.

A further object of the invention is to provide a bag frame in which a thicker and more firm backing is provided for riveting the hasp member thereto, which will prevent the riveted ends from pulling through the frame part when subjected to excessive strain in use.

Referring to the drawing, the numeral8 indicates the U-shaped outer or lock member and 9 the U-shaped inner or hasp member of the-improved bag frame which are hingedtogether in overlapping relation at the ends by pivot pins 10. to form the opening ofthe bag. The frame members-are formed'of strip; metal'and are of angular or L-shape in cross. section toformupper' outer flange portions 11 and 12, and lower inner flange portions 11 and 12 to which the bag parts are connected in the usual manner well known in the art. The upper flange part 11 is formed with an opening 13 for receiving the key-hole portion of the look (not shown) and the edge portion of the upper flange 12 is cut away or recessed as indicated by the numeral 14 to accommodate the look before mentioned. This cutting away or recess 14 materially weakens the frame member a d a reenforcing member 15 of L-shape in cross section is mounted on the outer side of the flange portion 12' with the flange part 15 extending outwardly from its lower edge portion. The reenforcing member 15, in the preferred form, is secured to the flange 12 by rivets 16,

the has 17 to the inner side of the flange 12. is thus constructed, the reenforcing flange 15 extends outwardly to reenforce the cut away portion of the flange 12 without in any manner interfering with the bag portion (not shown) which is attached to the bag frame above the reenforcmg member.

In the modified form shown in Figure 3, the reenforcing flange 18 forms partof and extends outwardly from the lower edge portion of the hasp 17, and in tlieniodified form shown in Figure l, the reenforcing flange 19 is integral with the frame member 9 and extends outwardly from the lower edge portion thereof.

From the foregoing d-escript-io ,it will be seen that the reenforcing means for the bag frame is of verv simple construction and is well adapted .for the purpose described.

What I claim as my invention is:

1. A bag frame, comprising a lock member, a hasp member connected thereto and having a recessed .edge :portion, and :mea-ns angular in. cross section for ireenforcing said recessed edge portion.

2. A bag frame, comprising a lock member, a hasp member hinged thereto and having a recessed edge portion, and an outwardly extending means for reenforcing said edge portion, Bil-1d outwardly extending means extending downwardly and outwardly below the plane of the recessed edge portion.

3. A bag frame, comprising a lock memher, a hasp member hingedthereto and "having an inwardly extending recessed portion and a downwardly extending portion, and a reenforcing means extending outwardly from the lower part of the downwardly extending portion.

l. A bagframe, comprising a lock member of angular form in cross section, .a hasp -member of angular form in cross section and having a recess :formed in its upper inner edge, theend portions of both members being hinged together, and a reenforcend portions hinged ing member connected to and extending outwardly from the lower portion of the hasp member.

5. A bag frame, oomprisinga U-shaped lock member of angular form in cross section, a U-shaped hasp member of angular form in cross section and having its end portions hinged to the end portions of the lock member, the inner upper edge portion of the hasp member having a recess, and an angular reenforcing member mounted on the hasp member and having a flange extending outwardly from its lower portion.

6. A bag frame, comprising an outer U- shaped lock member'of-angular form in cross section, a U-s'haped hasp member having its to the end portions of the lock member, said hasp member being of angular form in crosssection, and an elongated strip of material of angular form in cross section having one portion rigidly secured to theouter side of the 'hasp member and another portion extend-ing outwardly from the lower edge part of the hasp member.
