The member 4 is held securely in position y nails, screws, or other similar fastenings driven through the web V5 into the sill or into the strip A, and the member 10 by similar fastenings driven intothe sash ythrough the web 11 and through the material at the end of the pocket 17.

It will be seen like is closed, the flange l5 thereon` extends under the flange 8 fixed on the sill, and that 1 water driven in over the latter flange andA its lip 9 will pass into pocket 17, whence it will drain over flange 15j into the out through the vents 7, and thereby will be prevented from enteringthe window ror other opening between the sash or its equivalent and the sill.

The two members of theV device are so relatively 'termed that their respective flanges do nbt contact with each other, and thus lia bility of the parts binding', catching, or otherwise interfering with the closing and opening of' the sash or the likeI is avoided.A

Ha ving thus described my invention, what o lY claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s` a l. As a part of a weatherstrip device, a

member comprising a substantially flat web arranged to be secured against the outsideof a closure and having its material extending inwardly from the lower edge of the web as the upper wall;Y of a pocket portion arranged to seat against material of thev closure to which the member is attached, and having itsmaterial also extending outwardly and downwardly 'from'the inner end of the pocket portion as the lower wall thereof. h

2. As a part of a weatherstrip device, a

member comprising a substantially flat web arranged to be secured against thekoutside of a closure and havingy its upper edge disposed inwardly and capable of being let into the material to which the member is attached, the material of the memberextend-y ing inwardly from the lower edge of the web as the upper wall of a pocket portion arranged to seat against material of the elo# surevto whichthe member is attached, andv that, when the sash or the gutter 6 and the material of vthe member also extending youtwardly and downwardly from the, inner end of the pocket portion as the lower wall thereof.

As a part of a weatherstrip device, a sheet-metal member comprising a substair' tially fia-t web arranged to be secured against the outside of a closure, the material of the member along. the lower edge ol the web being bent upon itself and affording a drip-lip and thence extending in iardly as the upper wall of a pocket portion arranged to seat against material of the closure to which the member is attached, and the materialfof the member also extending outwardly and downwardly from the inner end of the pocket as the lower wall thereof,
