AM PHOTO-LITHOGRAPHIC G0. N.Y(0$BoRNE's PRacEss) l i l l i l UNITED STATES PATENT OEEIOE GEORGE W. SWAN, OF SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN VENEE'R KEGS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent NO. 141,963, dated August 19, 1873 application led J une 18, 1873.
To all whom it may concern: i
Beit known that I, GEORGE W. SWAN, of San Francisco city and county, State of Cali` I'ornia, have invented an Improvement in Veneer Kegs 5 and I do hereby declare the following description and `accompanying drawings are sufficient to enable any person skilled in the art or science to which it most nearly appertains to make and use my said invention without further invention or experiment.
My invention relates to a strong and dura-l ble keg, which is suitable for containing all kinds of articles and substances not under pressure that it is customary to place in kegs.
The body of my improved keg is made out of ble means, so as to form a true cylinder.. A
upenetrate the veneer body. I then take a piece of canvas or other strong cloth or fabric and Wrap it entirely around the cylinder or' body of the keg, so that the edges overlap each other. rIhe loricate, if of the proper kind, will x the covering or fabric closely to the veneer 5 but, if necessary, a special cement or other adhesive can be used. The other head of the keg is then put in, and the keg is ready for use.
A keg constructed in this manner will be found to be strong enough for all ordinary purposes, while it can be constructed at a very small expense.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
As a new article of manufacture, the keg herein shown and described.
In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal.
GEORGE W. SWAN. [L. s.]
