Be it known that I, PETER J. Surname, a citizen of the United States,.residing at ithaca, in the county of Tompkins and State of New York, haveinvented certain new and useful Improvements in Key-Ring Holders, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in key ring holders and has particular reference to that type of holder embodying a clasp adapted for at tachment to apparel, such as the waist band of trousers, with the key ring carried by the clasp.

The primary object of the invention resides in the provision of a key ring holder in the form of a clasp having an arm received over the waist band of trousers or other parts of the wearing` apparel and further embodying a looped portion for supporting a key ring to prevent accidental displacement of the key ring from the clasp.

A further object of the invention resides in a key ring holder of the type above set forth, the provision of a spring linger carried by the body of the clasp normally engaging the looped end of the clasp to receive the key ring to prevent accidental displacement of the key ring from the clasp, the looped end of the clasp being compressible t'o displace the spring finger from the terminal engagement therewith to permit easy removal of the ring from the clasp.

Vith the above general objects in view the invention consists of the novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described in connection with accompanying drawings, and in which like refer" ence characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views.

material having a, central body portion l 'to -be bent upon the line 2 as shown in Figurer t provides a garment engaging clasp section 8 having the outer end 4 thereof bent to provide a substantial hook for engagement with the garment G as shown in Figures l to 3.

The opposite end of the central body portion l is bent upon the line 5 to form a key 4ring supporting loop 6 and an outer taperlng guard arm 7. Y

The gist of the invention resides in the provision of a spring inger 8 struck out from the resilient body portion l as shown in Figure l with the terminal end 8@L as shown in Figure 2 normally engaging the adjacent face of the guard arm 7 providing a closed loop portion between the body l and the guard arm 7 to prevent the accidental displacement. of the key ring R as shown in Figure 2.

When placing the key ring R upon the holder, the ring is moved into the space between` the end of the guard arm 7 and the adjacent portion of the spring nger 8, the end being forced between the arm and iinger against the resiliency thereof to assume the position shown in Figure 2, at which time the ring R is locked in the holder. Nhen it is desired to remove the ring from the holder, the ring may be grasped between the fingers and palm of the hand and the thumb shown by dotted lines in Figure 8 pushed inwardly upon the outer end of the arm 7 to displace the inner end 8 of the spring finger 8 from engagement with the guard arm as shown in Figure 3, at which time the ring R is moved between the inner end 8a of the iinger and the guard arm to be subsequently freely removedy from the holder. The spring linger 8 will absolutely prevent accidental disengagement of the ring R from the holder, it being necessary that the outer end of the guard arm 7 be pressed inwardly for removing the inner end 8a of the spring {inger'from engagement with the guard arm.

While there is herein shown and described the preferred embodiment of the invention, it is to be understood that minor changes in the construction, combination and arrange* roo CII

Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new is l. A. key ring holder comprising a resilient strip of metal bent to provide a garment engaging clasp, a body portion and a guard arm, a spring finger struck out from the body portion having the terminal end thereof engaging the guard arm to form a closed loop for the `key ring, said ring being removable from the holder by pressure upon the outer end of the guard arm to disengage the terminal end of the spring finger 'from engagement with the guard arm. i l y 2. In a key ring holder ofthe type described, a strip of resilient metal bent to .portion between the central body and the guard arm, a key ring supported within said looped portion being removable Jfrom the `holder' by pressure uponrthe outer end of the guard arm to displace the terminal Aend of the spring finger trom engagement with the guard arm to providea receiving space between the finger and arm for the reception and passage or' a key ring.
