Having fully disclosed the structure and mode of operation of my invention, what l claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: i

A dump car comprising a body portion Vand a center sill, said sill including two spaced vertical i-beams extending throughout the longitudinal extent of the car, a series of standards bolted to said sill, a body pivotally mounted on the upper ends Aof said standards, a toothed sector fixed to said body concentric with the pivotal axisV thereof, a

tending between the I-beams thereof, a bevel gear on the upper end of said shaft meshing with said toothed sector, a spur gear mountedon said shaftr and projecting 'laterally through slots in the web portions of said l-beams, a cylinder bolted to each side Vof said center sill, a piston and a piston rod operating in each cylinder, said piston rods having extensions with gear teeth formed onthe inner-sides thereof, said teeth meshin` with said spur gear,and an elon-r gated Yhousing for each of said piston rods bolted to the webs ofsaid -beams.

A dump car comprising a body portion and a center sill, a series of standards bolted Y to'said sill, a car body pivotally mounted on extensionsy with gear teeth formed on thel inner sides'thereof, said teeth meshing ywith said spur gear, and an elongated housing for each of said piston rods boltedto said center sill.

A dump car comprising a body portion pivoted to the center sillvof the car about a horizontal longitudinal axis between the body portion and center sill, a toothed sector "depending from said ybody portion in a transverseV plane at right angles to said pivotal axis and arranged concentric with said pivotal axis, a vertical shaft journaledin said center sill, a bevel gear on the upper end of said shaft meshing with said vtoothed sector, a spur gear mounted on said shaft, a pair of pistons bolted to said center sill, a piston and a piston rod operating in each cylinder, the piston rods having extensions with gear teeth formed on the inner sides thereof, said.V teeth meshing with said spur gear. A dump car of the kind described, comprising body portion pivoted to the center sill about a longitudinal axis, a gearsector depending` from said body portion in a transverse plane and arranged concentric vwith said pivotal axis, an antifrictionlateral' guide bearing for said sector; a longitudinally disposed cylinder fixed tothe center sill and adapted to have fluid pressure admitted to and exhausted from the ends thereof, a'piston and a piston rod operating in said cylinder and gear connections between said piston rod and said gear sector.
