SANDFOR1 I a citizen of the United States, and aresident of Fayetteville, in the county-of Washington and State of Arkansas, have invented a new and useful-Improvement in Cylinder- Polishing, Tools, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to improvements in cylinder polishing tools, and it consists in the combinations, constructions and arrangements herein described and claimed. 7
An object. of my invention is\ to provide a device of the character described in which an abrasive agent is maintained in operative contact with the inner wall of a cylindrical member.
A further object of my invention is to provide a device for polishing and grinding cylinders in which a rotatable substantially ring shaped member carrying an abradant on its outer wall is rotatably supported Within a cylinder in constant engagement with the inner wall of the cylinder to occasion the abrading of the inner wall as required.
A further object of my invention is to i provide a device of the type described in which the abrasive agent may be replaced at will.
A further object of my invention is to provide a device of the type described in which means is provided for successively rotatably supporting substantially ring shaped abradant carrying members of varying sizes.
A further object of my invention isto provide in a device of the type described an abradant carrying member having the form i of an annulus. slitted fromend to end and tapering "uniformly toward its transverse edges.
Other objects and advantages will appear in the following specification, and the novel features of the invention will be particularl pointed out in the appended claims.

The spindle 1 is fashioned with a longitudinally extending groove 2 adjacent its other end which is beveled at 3. The collar 4 is fashioned to provide diametrically opposed bosses 88 each provided with a radially extending recess or socket 99. Similar retaining pins 1010 have their inner end portions disposed in the sockets 9-9 and their outer end portions projected intov alined openings 11--11 in, diametrically opposed bosses 12-12, that are integral with an abradant carrying member 13, and extend radially through the walls of the latter.
Various parts of the device, the operation thereof maybe readily understood. A suitable abradant, such as an abrasive cloth 17 has an end portion thereof projected between wall of the abradant carrying member along the edge 15 and is maintained in adjusted position by a clamping member 18 that is secured to the abradant carrying member by screws 19. The abrasive cloth'17 is then passed around the outer Wall of the abradant carrying member and its other end portion The bosses 12-12 are positioned. adjacent to one end of the abradant carrythe edges 14 and 15 to lie against the inner tucked within the latter between the contiguous, portion of the abrasive cloth 17 to polish the same.

In service, the abrasive cloth 17 is covered with a coat of cup grease or the like to insure a satisfactory continued grinding contact of the abrasive cloth with the wall of the cylinder until the former has be-.
