The method of operation is. as follows: i
The operator either stands or sits at some convenient point adjacent to the circumference of the turntable, as at D,'Fig'. 1, which may be termed the point for insertion and for removal. temporarily attached thereto by theglue or A adhesive substance which hasnot 'yet set, is
inserted b'etween'the open clamp members The device is temporarily thereon is clamped therein.
This operation is repeated until all the clamp members are providedwith bottles or the like, by which time the first mentioned bottle V has made thecircuitfof the turntable and the point for removal, the glue or adhesive substance on the label thereof'having set has arrived in front of the operator, or at V should be understood thatrthere may be during the circuit and the label being securely attached to the bottle. This bottle is then manually released and removed from the clamp members and a bottle or like article to be labeled is substituted thereforin the clamp member, the described operation being repeated until the desired nuni ber of bottles or like articleshave been labeled.
Having thus described my invention it modifications thereof and variations therein without departing from the spirit of the invention or exceeding the scope of the appended claims. V is l/Vhen I have referred to receptacles or bottles or the like,I do not desire to confine, myself to such receptacles but comprehend Within my invention of my machine theapplication of labels to any type of surfaceswhether they be a portion of the-container or otherwise. This press enables me to apply labels to flat surfaces as Well as to other types of surfaces and to applyl thelabels to leather, Wood, steel or othermaterials, as Well as metal or glass containers.
