T 0 all whom t may concern Be it known that 1 OWEN OWENs, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Berkley'Station, in the county of Norfolk and State of Virginia, have inventedy certain new and useful Improvements in Puzzles, of which the following is a specification.

My presentinvention relates generally to puzzles, my object being the provision of'an ,entertaining puzzle Whose solution While possible is suiciently diiicult to insure maX- y imum amusement.

the latter lof which is preferably throughout except for the traps, and each trap is formed by a strip of material, preferably metal formed in V-shape with extensions converging toward one another so as to leave an open mouth 17 between their .free ends of slightly greater Width than the'diameter of the balls 12, each of these eXtensions 18 having one or more depending spurs 19 which may be driven `into thevplaying Wardly-tovvard the center ofthe diamond.

By so yconstruct-ing the traps and so dis Specification of Letters latfgrntkk` @Amantea APL 18, 1922 posing them in relation to one another I have found it possible to create an amus# ingly diilicult puzzle though one obviously possible of solution by skillful tilting of the board 10. While I contemplate the puzzle Will be suciently dicult of solution by permitting the balls-to be shifted indiscriminately in the several traps, greater diiiiculty may be brought about by coloring one of the balls one color to be trapped at the batsman position with thetwo balls of another color for the traps 15 and 16 at the pitchers kand catcherspositions, the remaining balls being uncolored for the remaining traps.y

A puzzle including a board having an upper flat surface marked out to represent a baseball field, balls freely rolling on the said playing surface, and traps forthe balls and each having a single ball receiving opening, seid traps each including a strip of inat'eriztl upstanding edgewise from the playing Surface of the board and-otl V-shape prov1ded with extensions converging toward one nnother velndwvith then free ends spaced apart to form between them the receiving Y place.
