JACQUES SCHNEIDER, 10F SOLOTHURN, FREDERIC'BILLON, OF SOLOTHURN,
PATENT, orrice ERNST H RLIMANN, or ZUCHWIL, AND SWITZERLAND, ASSIGNORS TO THE FIRM SGINTILLA, or SOLO'IHURN, SWITZERLAND. I
ELECTRIC IGN land, have invented certain new and useful.
Improvements Relating to Electric Ignition Dynamos, of which the following is a specification. 1 v
Thisinvention has for its object to provide an improvedmeans of attaching the lever for varying the point ofignition' in ignition dynamos for internal combustionengines infwhich the point of ignition is varied by rotating the fixed part relatively to the rotary part of the interrupter. Since the lever for varying the point of ignition has to be arranged in various directionsin order to be conveniently accessible accordtively in recesses or on projections of suit-- ing to the manner in which the ignition dynamo is built in the mechanism provided with it, the hub of-the said lever is provided according to the present invention with projections or recesses adapted: to fit respecableform and size on the adjustable portion of the interrupter mechanism; the projections or recesses at least on one of the two parts being provided in number and arrangement to correspond to the various directions of the lever.
The accompanying drawings illustrate some constructional examples of this invention.
' Figure 1 shows a longitudinal section through the device of an embodiment of the invention.
Figure 2 is a section on line X-X of Figure '1, in which notches are provided in the edge of the coupling disc. I V
Figure 3 is an end view with parts omitted for clearness;
As shown, the cover 7' of the adjusting lever a (for varying the" point of ignition) constitutes also the cover of the aperture in the machine casing 5, through which the supporting piece 0 surrounding the cam plate 9, can be removed together with the interrupter parts 41 and e. The cover f,
which can be adjusted concentrically by rr'IoN DYNAMO.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented A r 4, 1922. Application fined August 22, 1919. Serial No. 319,232.
means of the lever a together with the supporting part a in opposition to the spring 1*, has its projecting edge It guided concentrically in an annular groove 71 of the machine casing b, and is connected to the interruptersupporting part 0 by means of a screw 70 which is situated in the central axis and which engages in a concentric boss 29 onthe cover 7". This connection can, according to this invention, be established in difierent relativepositions of the two parts according to the requirementsof eachparticular case;
for which a constructive solution is given in Fig. 2 which is a section approximately on the line X-X ofFig. 1.
As shown in Figs. 1 and 2', the cover hub f is formed on its inner side with two projections m. On the interrupter-supporting piece 0 there is screwed a disc n having twelve notches 0 in any two diametrally Opposite ones of which the twoprojections m can be engaged. The parts 0 and fare thus rigidly coupled together by a sort of claw clutch, and the lover a can be attached to the machine in twelve different positions. Figure ,3 shows'an end viewof Figure l with the parts 7", sand at removed, thus show ing clearly the attachment of the spring r to the carrying piece 0 and the fixing ring 25. i
This fixing ring allows the interrupter to beremoved bodily from the machine in an axial direction when the bayonet notches v and'slots w face each other; but when in the working position the spring 2* forces the fixing ring round until its extension 25 abuts against the shoulder to of the casing b and the bayonet device is then locked.
Further constructional forms of the invention are obviously possible.
What we claim is 1. A means for attaching an adjustable lever on a supporting piece surrounding the cam plate for varying the point of ignition the point of ignition when such cover is 01)- erated in the desired direction, substantially as described.
Means for attaching an adjustable lever on a supporting piece surrounding the cam plate, for Varying the point of ignition caused by the interrupter of electric ignition dynainos, comprising a circular cover concentrically pivoted, having a depending flange with projections and central boss on one face of same, and a projecting lever extending beyond the periphery of the cover for rotating same by hand in combination with a screw engaging the central boss of cover for connecting it to the interrupter 15 supporting part, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof we have signed our names to this specification.
