To all whom t may concern Be it known that l, SAMUEL ARNOLD, 3d, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Ben Avon, in the county ot Allegheny and Stateof Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Collector-Lifting Mechanisms, of which the tollowing is .e SPeGfiCtOllf This invention relates to' trolleys for elec* trioally operated traveling cranes, cars and the like, and more particularly to means for Vthe collectors of such trolleys free frornfthe electrical conductors from which the operating 'current is received, and has for its object the provision ofla novel trolley construction will embody such means.
i electrically operated traveling cranes andthe like it is common to have a trolley with a plurality of collectors thereon for receiving the electric current necessary to operate the various lifting and other crane elements, such collectors being independent ot the main collectors used to receive the electric current necessary to move the crane along its track. there collectors have been `mounted on a trolley as stated, for receiving thecurrent necessary to operate the lifting and other crane elements, they have heretofore been constantly in contact with their respective conductors which are'rigid.' Such a construction subjects the collectors to continuous wear, and consequently they must be frequently renewed. f. A
-tllVithv a trolley constructed according to this invention the collectors'need only contact withthe conductors when actually in use to complete a circuit. Therefore unnecessary wear is eliminated and the lite thereof is materially lengthened.k

The trolley member is composed of angle iron side members 3 and 4 which are secured together in spaced relation byback plates and 6. The side flanges of the membersB and 4 form a guideway or channel for a vertically movable collector support A, which 1s composed of la T-shaped center member 7, formed by securing two angle/members together back to back, as is clearly shownin Figure 2, and insulator side members S which are secured to the center member.7 byl bolts 9. The back flanges l0 of the T -shaped member 7 are adapted to abut .the back plate 6 of the trolley when the collector support A is in its extreme up position.
The forward edges of the, side members 8 are secured together in spaced rela-tion by bol-ts l1 which have spacing washers v12 thereon, and have kcollars 1.3 on each `enol which project anappreciable distance beyond the side members 8. A, blura-lity of U- .y

The other arm 33 of the bell crank lever Y has a hand grip 34- thereon, and forms an operating lever. The lever 34 has a spring pressed latch 35 thereon adapted to lock lthe bell crank Y inits adjusted position, so as to positively position the collectors and collector support.
The bell crank lever X has a counterweight lever 36 extending rearwardly on a line with the arm 26 and provided with an adjustably 'positioned counterweight 37,

The combination with a rigid trolley member,v of a collector support slidably mounted on said trolley member, 'at least one collector pivotally mounted on said support adapted to normally contact with a suitable conductor, stop members projecting from said support for limiting the down- `ward movement of said collector, and means for raising said collector support and said collector to break the'contact with said conductor.
2. The combination with a rigid trolley member, of a collector support slidably mounted on said trolley member, at least one collector pivotally mounted on said support adapted to normally contact with ya suitable conductor, stop members projecting from said support for limiting the downward movement ot said collector, and a lever mechanism for moving said collector support and said collector vertically relative to said trolley to break the contact of said collector with said conductor.
3. The combination with a rigid vertically l disposed crane trolley member, of a rcollector support adapted to have' a limited vertical movement relative to said trolley,va plurality oi' collector members pivotally mounted on said collector support adapted to vnormally contact with suitable electrical conductors, and a counterweighted lever mechanism for simultaneously moving said-collector `support and said collectors vertically relative'fto said trolley to break the contact of saidfcollectors With said conductor. l"
