T0 allwkomit ma concm:
Be it known tnat I, WILHELM Roon, a citizen of the German Republic, and rsiding at Berlin, Germany, have invented certa1n new and useful Im roVements in Foot Bandages, of which the ollowing i 3 a spacification.
This invention relates to an improved bandage for stopping deformations of humnn fet and for correcting snob deformed foot, of that known type consisting of a kind of corset, which is placed beneath the sole of the foot and laoed on top of the latter and which has st1aps for ensuring of the banda and for engagmg the tendo- Achillis, un at its bottom a steelloto adapted to the normal shape of the so e of the foot for the purpose of sdpporting the arch of the latter.
Such bandages have the drawback that they do not afl'ord a satisfaotory Iateral hold wh1le' they exert a pressure on the foot by their edges, which results in ain to the person wearing the bandage. T e main disadvantage is; however, that said bandages do not compensate the socalled knot or node of the ball of the foot which is produced bythe middle bonds faliing asundex, whereb the toes are contra ted like a fan by tle foot mnsclo and the head of the first middle-foot bone forms a right angle wth the head of the first-toe boue.
The improved bandage forming the subject matter of the present invention, provides means for eflectively overcoming the drawbacks afore-mentioned.
The' accompanyng drawing shows in- Figs. 1 and 2 respectively an inner side view and an enter side view, of the right foot while Fig. 3 shows en underside plan view of the bandage belonging thereto, in detached a desi 'ates the steelplate for sup rting the vaut of the sole. On said pote, a
leather ieco 6 is riveted. On the sides of said lent cr piece, the lace-members c and J, and on its rear and a cap 9, are fixed, straps f intervening between the iatter and said lace-members.
Said cap wholly s11rrounds the heel of the foot and extends to the lateral bent-up ortions a and a of the steelplate a, thoray preventing the foot from slippin rearwardly f1om,said steellate and a ording to the foot a.safe latera hold, whereby the noxious pressure of the lateral bent-up parts on and a? of the steel-plate on the foot is avoided.
To the front and of the lace-tnembers c, d, a ribbon 5 is a.ttachad by means of short connection-members 76 in such a way that, when the laoemembers are fastened around the middle portion of the foot, said ribbon can be plad around the front Part of the same at the region where the ball 01: the foot is situated, said hall being oovered and thus protected against pressure by means of a soft annular ad lm provided on said ribbon. Said rib n is fastened in position, together with said lace-members, by means of one and the same lace n passing through eye-holes h in the ends of said ribbo What I daim, is: A foot bandage, comprising in combination, 8. sole stee -plate With bent up lateral parts, 9, leather iece fixd on and steel late, two latera lace-membets on said eather piece, a heel oaP fixed to the rear end of said leather pieoe and extendin to the lateral bent-np parts of said stl-p ate, strap intervening between said cap and said IEce-members a ribbon attached to the front and of said iamembers, having eye halos in its ends, and a soft annular ad on said ribbon, substantially as and or the purpose set forth.
In testimony wheroof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing Witnesses.
