Description
PATENT OFFICE.
GUSTAN FOGDE. F HOQU'IAM. WASBNGTON.
SAW.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Dec. 27, 1921.
. i Application led January 2, 1920. Serial No. 348,984.
' To @ZZ `iii/lam it muy bonne/n Be it known that'l'. t' riv Forum, a citi Zen of Finland, residing at Hoquiam, in the county of Grays Harbor and State ot lashingtom have invented eertain new and useful Iniprovements in Saws. o't which the following is a specification.
This inventiony relates to* improvements l Vin handsaws for work in shops, ship yards7 10 and for other purposesiand its object is to provide a device of this class that may be driven by compressed air or by other suitable means. A further object is to provide a device of `this class that is very simple .in construction and operation and oonsequently cheap to manufacture. Vith the foregoingr and other objects in view the invention consists in the eon'ihinaton and ar rangement of parte to he hereinafter fully 2O described, pointed out in the appended claim and illustrated in the accompanying drawing which forms a part of this specification and in which-- Figure .l is a. sectional view of the device in front elevation. i
Fig. 2 is a section on line 9.-2 ot' Fig. l.
Like reference characters denote correspondiner parts in both views.
The reference numeral l denotes a easing formed with the partition 2, with the intake extension 3, the exhaust port 4 and with the saw-carriage-chamber 5. Journaled in one wall of the casing and in the partition 2 is th'e axle 6 upon which the rotor 7 vis made fast and likewise the disk 8, said disk and rotor being arranged upon opposite sides of the partition 2. -The rotor is formed with the blades 9 which are driven by compressed air from the intake 3, the air Athen 40 passing out through the exhaust 4. Air 1s introduced into the intake through the air pipe 10, lthe airbeing regulatedor control-led by the air valve 11 having the air passage l12, said Valve being yieldingly retained with its air passage out of register with the pas v sage in the intake through the medium ofthe l5aformed in a recessed portion 15b of .the-
handle limits the outward movement of the heel of the lever lll thus preventing this member from moving out of operative ,f fag'ement with the valve ll.
The disk 8 is connected oil center, by the piston '16. to the saw carriage 1T that operates in the saw-earriage-ehamben and that carries the saw blade 18. 'l'he entire saw is of light weight and easily moved from place to place by its handlesl. 19 the latter being secured to'the saw-earriageehamber. The
saw is put in motion by manual depression i applied to the work.
A sawing tool comprising a cylindrical easing;r havingr a central partition therein to provide chambers at each side thereof, a rotor in one of said chambers, a disk in the other ot said chambers and Carried by said rotor, a saw guide on said easing. a saw slidable in said guide, crank and itman con.- neetion between said saw and risk. an air inlet stem on said easing, an exhaust port in said casing, said stem and port communi eating with the rotor chamber, a valve in said inlet stem, a handle on said stern, and valve operating Vmeans carried by said handle.` i
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto affixed my signature in the presence of two subscribing Witnesses.
