las, in the county' of Dallas and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Well-Cleaning Devices, of which the following is a specifi-cation.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in well cleaning devices.
The obj ect of the invention is to lprovide a well cleaning device whichvinvolves a simpacker construction of the sides in. an elastic packing element constructed to first be expanded against' the inner wall of the screen pipe and then to permit the fluid to discharge axially of the fluid supply pipe so that the washing and cleaning operatlon may be-carried out.
A construction designed to carry out the invention will be hereinafter described together. with other features of the invention.'
The invention will be more readily understood from a reading of the following speciication and by reference to the accompanying drawings, in which an example of the invention is shown, and Whereln:

ln the drawings the numeral 10 designates an ordinary well screen having the usual perforations 11 and any screen structure as the ordinary wire windin s 12. The'usual line or string of pipe 13 1s connected with collar 15. On'l the lower end of the section 14 a plug 16 is mounted. The lower end-of the section 14 is screw-threaded at 17 and its upper end is screw-threaded at 18. Near each end of the section, an elasticr'packing sleeve 19 is mounted. As both of the sleeves -and their respective parts are alike, a description of 'one will suffice for both.
A collar 2O is mounted on a screw-threaded portion 17 and has a dished face 21 and an annular cutting flange 22 the latter being for scraping the inside of the casing 10.

A collar 24 is threaded on the portion 17 and engages the inner face of the flange 23 which latter has its outer face in engagement with the dished portion 21 of the collar 20. The face of the collar 24 which contacts with the flange 23 is concaved and thus the said -fiange will be clamped between the two collars and confined against radiall displacement by the concaved faces. The outer edge of the collar 24 is rounded where'the sleeve contacts so as not to injure the latter. 4
At its opposite .end the sleeve 19 has an inwardly directed annular lip 25 which closely embraces the pipe section 14. The edge of the lip is reduced and rounded so as to be slightly compressed about the pipe. Within the sleeve 19 the pipe section 14 has a plurality of perforations or apertures 26 through which the water or other fluid from "the pipe 14may flow into the sleeve. As
before stated the sleeves at each end of the section 14 are substantially the same, the only difference being that instead of the plug 16, the collar 1 5 engages the collar 20 The pipe 14 is not In using the device the section is lowered into the well screen to the point desired to be cleaned. Water or any other cleaning Iiuid under pressure is supplied from a suitable source through the pipe 13 from the top of the well to the section 14. The iiuid can escape only through lthe perforations 26 and fills the cylindrical sleeve 19. This fluid being under pressure seeks anV exit and the sleeves'being elastic, expand under the influence of the pressure and come into contact with the inner side ofthe casing 10 as isshown in dotted line in Fig. 2.l When this is accomplished lthe fluid., cannot pass above or below thepackers but must pass from the sleeve through the opening provided by the expanded lips 25. The fluiddischargedfrom the sleeve passes out through the perforations 12 of the casing andjwashes the screen as is obvious. As long as the pressure is maintained the sleeves will remain expan return to their ded. 'When the pressure yis relieved the sleeves will normal form and the device may be easily withdrawn from the well.
Changes in the dimension and deslgnof thedevice may be'made within the scope of the invention and modifications made without departing from its spirit. What I claim, is:
l. In a well cleaning device, a" pipe section, elastic packing elements mounted. on the section .and spaced apart, the section having perforations within the packing elements and being imperforate between the packing elements, the packing elements being'e'xpan` `libl1e',` whereby the Huid passing throl'igh'thevv perforatio'ns will create pressure-eindl expand lsaid elements' against the sidefof the well casing and then discharge from' the-elementsl into the space between said elements;
2.' In a well cleaning device, a' pipe sec- 3'. ln a well cleaning device, a pipe section, and an` elastic hollow packing sleeve having one end secured to the section and sleeve to supply fluid to expand .the sleeve prior to its discharge therefrom.
4. ln a well Vcleaning device, a pipe section having a threaded portion, a pair of collars mounted on the threaded portion of the pipe, and an elastic packing sleeve considerably larger internally than the section and having o'ne end clamped between the collars and the .other end contracted and normally embracing the pipe section.
5; ln a well cleaning device, a' pipe section having its lower end obstructed and screw threaded at each end,'a pair of collars at each end having their adjacent faces concaved, hollow rubber sleeves each having an inwardly directed annular portion clamped between the concaved `faces of the collars, and an annular lip at each end of each sleeve embracing the pipe section, the pipe section having perforations within the vsleeves and being imperforate between thfe sleeves.
