Be it known that I, ALFRED H. HUMPHREY,
a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, county of New York, State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Gas-Burners. of which. the following is a Specification.
This invention relates to improvements in gas burners.
My improved gas burner is especially designed by me for embodiment in gas stoves of the type shown in my Letters Patent No.
' 1.280.740, issued October 8, 1918, although adaptable for use in other relations.
The main objects of this invention are:
First, to provide an improved burner having a very eflicient combustion of gas both when burning with a full supply of gas and when turned down or burning with a limited supply of gas, and throughout the intermediate variations.
Second, to provide an improved gas burner which provides an eflicient combustible mixture of airand gas throughout a wide range of gas pressure or supply.
Further objects, and objects relating to structural details, will definitely appear from the detailed description to follow.
accomplish the objects of my invention by the devices and means described in the following specification. The invention is clearly defined and pointed out in the claims. A structure which is a preferred embodim'ent'of my' invention is clearly illustrated 'in the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, in which:

In the drawing, similar reference characters refer to similar parts throughout the several views, and the sectional views are pands into the taken looking in the direction of the little arrows at the ends of the section lines.

The burner body is supported with the ends of the burner tubes in a spaced relation above the manifold 5. 'The manifold is provided with a plurality of tips 6 having-oblong slot-like deliveryorifices 7. The nozzles 6 are disposed burner tubes so as to deliver into their loweropen ends as shown in F ig; II. The s ace between the manifold and the lower emf; of the tubes is unobstructed to permit a circulation of air around the nozzles and into the lower ends of the burner tubes.
The jet orifice 7 is of such shape that a flat upwardly flaring forked jet 8 as illustrated in Fig. V is delivered therefrom.
The lower portion of the burner tube is of substantially uniform diameter and extip portion 3 which is also of substantially uniform diameter although considerably larger than the lower portion.
By thus forming and arranging the parts, I provide a burner which is efficient when the burner is using a full supply of gas or when the supply is reduced to a minimum, an effective combustible-mixture being provided throughout the variations of gas supply.
I have illustrated my improvements as I have adapted them commercially in multiple burners'for gas stoves of the type shown in my said patent. I have not attempted to illustrate or describe other adaptations or' embodiments asI believe the disclosure made will enable those skilled in the art to which my invention relates to embody or'adapt the same as may be desired.
Having thus described my invention. what I claim as new and desire to secure by Let ters Patent is:
1.. In a gas burner. the combination of a burner body comprising a plurality of burner tubes open at their lower cuds and having burner tips provided with bars disposed in a uniformly spaced relation. said tubes being unobstructed from end to end, a gas delivery manifold. a valve for said own'in mv Pat centrally below the-- v burner'valve, and a gas delivery nozzle havmanifold, and gas delivery nozzles therefor having oblong slot-like delivery orilicesdelivering forked streams of gas into the. open ends of said burner tubes when the valve is adjusted to restrict the flow of gas through the nozzles, the space bet ween the manifold and the burner tubes being unobstructed to permit a free circulation of air.
2. In a gas burneiythe combination of a burner body comprising a plurality of burner tubes unobstructed from end to end,
a gas delivery manifold, a valve for said manifold, and gas delivery nozzles therefor ing an oblong slot-like delivery orifice do; livering a fiat forked flaring stream of gas into the open end of said burner tube when the valve is adjusted to restrict the flow of gas through the nozzles.
4. In a gas burner, the combination of a 'burner tube unobstructed from end to end, a burner valve and a gas delivery nozzle having an oblong slot-like delivery orifice delivering a fiat forked flaring stream of gas tosaid burner tube when the valve is adjusted zles.
