p In handling inflammable liquids such as gasolene with dispensing apparatus having an elevated container, safety'regulations require that such liquid be drained back to the underground storage tank or other source of supply when the apparatus is locked up, as for the night. invention provides an automatic drain-back to meet such requirements.
The particular embodiment of my invention selected for illustration is a gasolene dispensing apparatus for outdoor use.

Any means for causing the drain-back valve to be automatically opened by avertically adjustable member when the apparas tus is in look up position is within the scope of my invention.

1. In a liquid dispensing'apparatus havingi an elevated liquid container, the combination of a valve to drain the contents of the container back to the storage tank, a
moving element within the container, and
means connected with the valve and s:
gageable by the moving element, to open-the valve when placing the apparatus in position for temporary disuse.
