To all to hom it may concern Be it known that I, Hcnnnr T. PrnnsoN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hoquiam, in the county of Grays Harbor and State of Washington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Guards for Drink-Mixers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to certainnew and useful improvements in guards for drink mixers such as are used in soda water fountains, the object being to provide a guard which can bereadily placed over the motor housing so as to thoroughly protect the same. Another object of my invention is to provide a guard which can be easilyand quickly attached or detached for cleaning purposes and one which when in position will prevent the liquid of the drink being mixed from splashing over the housing thereby producing a sanitary device.
Another object of my invention is to provide a guard which is preferably formed of sheet metal, substantially semi-spherical in shape and having a neck portion to provide frictional means for engagingthe housing so that it will be held in position in such a manner that it can be readily attached or detached.
Other and further objects and advantages of the invention will be'hereinafter set forth and the novel features thereof defined by the appended claims.

In the drawings 1 indicates a base provided with a standard 2 having a glass holder 3 for receiving the glass or receptacle in which the liquid is placed to be agitated. The standard is formed hollow in the ordinary manner in which is slidably mounted a tubular member 4 which is provided with a hanger 5 in which is mounted a housing 6 in which is arranged an electric motor (not shown) having a drive shaft 7 carrying an agitating shaft 8 which is connected thereto by coupling 9 in the usual manner, said agitating shaft having an agitator 10 mounted on its lower end and by-this particular construction the agitator can be raised and lowered in order to allow the glass to be placed in the same, the above description being given so that the operation of my improved construction of guard can be readily understood.
The housing of the motor 6 is provided with a neck portion 11 which is adapted to be engaged by they split sleeve portion 12 of a guard 13 which is substantially semispherical in shape and is preferably formed of sheet metal. By constructing the guard in this manner the same can be readily slipped over the neck portion of the housing and held in position thereon by frictional contact of the split sleeve portion in order to allow the same to be readily inserted or removed for cleaning purposes and when in position as shown in Fig. 1 forms a guard or protector so as to protect the housing from the splash of the drink being mixed.
From the foregoing description it will be seen that I have provided an exceedingly simple and cheap construction of guard which is so mounted on the housing that it protects the same from the splashing liquid within the container being mixed.
While I have shown a particular construction of guard and manner of attaching the same to the motor housing I do not wish to limit myself to these details of construction as I am aware that various other means can be employed for attaching the guard to the housing without departing from the spirit of my invention.
What I claim is 1. The combination with a drink mixer having a motor housing provided with a neck portion through which extends a motor shaft having an agitator carried thereby, of a guard conforming in shape to the housing disposed between said housing and said agitator, said guard having a frictional sleeve portion for engaging the neck portion of said housing for holding the same in position thereon.
2. A drink mixer having a motor inclosed in a housing provided with a depending shaft having an agitator carried thereby and a circular guard disposed between said housing and said agitator for protecting the comprising a. substantially semi-spherical motor from the splash of the drink being body having a split sleeve'ifor engaging the mixed.
