LAURENCE P. BODKIN AND JOHN S. BODKIN, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN COOKlNG-VESSELS. v
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 138,846, dated May 13, 1873 application filed March 15, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, LAURENCE P. BODKIN and JOHN S. BODKIN, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Cooking-Vessels, of which the following is a specification:
Figure 1 is a top view of a vessel illustrating our invention. Fig. 2 is a side view of the same, part being broken away to show the construction. Fig. 3 is a detail section of the same taken through the line 00 00, Fig. 1.
Our invention has for its object to improve the construction of boilers, sauce-pans, and other cooking-vessels, in such a way that the liquid contents may be poured off and the solid contents retained. The invention consists in the grate formed upon the inner side of the edge of the vessel, and in the lip formed upon the outer side of the edge of the vessel, in combination with the grate formed upon the inner side of said edge, as hereinafter fully described. A represents the body of the boiler, Whic is provided with the bail B in the ordinary manner. The boiler A is also provided with a handle, 0, upon its rear side for convenience in tipping it to pour out its contents. Upon the edge of the forward side of the boiler A is formed a lip, D, inclining upward and outward,
as shown in Fig. 2, to serve as a spout, in pouring out the liquid contents of said boiler, to guide them into the receiving-vessel and prevent them from trickling down the outer side of boiler A. Upon the inner side of the edge of the forward side of the boiler A is formed 2. The lip D formed upon the outer side of the edge of the boiler A, in combination with the grate E formed upon the inner side of said edge, substantially as herein shown and described.
