Y INVENTOR- WBTNESS. I I
ENOGH J. BLACKMON,
OF SHERMAN, TEXAS.
HIGH-PRESSURE SUCTION FAN AND BLOWER.
Application filed December To. all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ENOOH J. BLAoKMoN, a citizen of the United States residing at Sherman, in the county of (irrayson and State of Texas,- have invented certain new and useful Improvements in High-Pressure Suction Fans and Blowers," of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to, high pressure suction fan and blower, and may be used either in conjunction with a cotton ginto increase the suction for handling cotton from bin or wagon, or it may be used for any other purpose where suction or blast fans are used. The agencies employed in performing the functions of the present construction are mechanical andcarried out by means of an inner and an outer casing whereby the air entering the fan at the side is forced by the fan wings throughthe openings of the inner wall of the cylindrical chamber formed of inclined vanes, and passes through the vanes to the outer chamber, then to' a discharge flue extending from the outer casing of the fan.
By the special construction of'parts hereinafter described and claimed, as well as by the general combination, arrangement and cooperation of the elements enterin into the machine as a whole, I have devised a fanswhich will operate in a continuous and highly. eflicient manner-and increase the air pressure with a reduced power of operation.
a plate 4, provided with ,In the accompanying drawings which serve to illustrate this invention more fully, Figure 1, is a side elevation, a portion being broken away to disclose interiormechanism. Fig. 2 is a plan view partly insection through the line X X of Fig. 1, and with portions broken away to clearly show more important interior features.
In the embodiment of the invention shown in the drawings 1 represents a suction "fan or blower having a circular opening 2 in the front side 3, over which opening is bolted an opening 5 that is connected through the usual conveyer trunk (not shown). The fan 1 is equipped with a rp tor comprising a disk 6 secured to the edges of fan wings 7 all mounted on a shaft 8 that is supported in the usual bearings '9, and may be driven from any convenient point by belt 10. The wings 7 'are Specification of Letters Patent.

not as wide as the interior width of the fan casing, and each has a curve 11 on its outer edge vto prevent any substance from hanging on same. A cylindrical wall is formed wlthin the fan erally disposed, lnwardly inclined metal vanes 12, spaced apart and secured to the sides of the casing in any suitable manner, said wall forming acylindrical chamber 13 in whlch the fan revolves. The air blast is forced between -the edges of these vanes to the out chamber of the fan casing giving it an mcreasedpressure as the air is taken from the fan wmgs at a close range without forming back pressure or vacuum around the fan. The air passing around the outer chamber 14 is evenly increased by the air I passing between the vanes that form the inner casing and around the fan to the discharge fiue; a valve any substance that is drawn into the chamber 13 that will not pass between the edges of the vanes, is placed over the dischar flue of the fan in wall 12 with weight 16 for closing same.
From the foregoing. description it will be seen that I provide a suction fan and blowlng machine that is exceedingly simple in construction and eflicient in operation, and while I have shown and described a specific embodiment of means for carrying the principles of my invention intopractical'operation, I desire it to be understood that the specific form shown, while the best form in which I at present contemplate carrying my invention into practical operation, is merely illustrative of an operative embodicasing by a plurality of lat- 15 suitable to release ment of practical means,-and I do not limit or confine myself thereto. v
aving now set forth the object and nature of my invention and a form of apparatus embodying the same and having described the construction, function, and mode operation thereof, what I claim as new i and desire .to secure by Letters Patent, is-
positioned therein,
a serrated circular wall formed of vanes spaced apart for the pas- 5 sage of air, and
sitioned exterior of the fan, dividing the intervening space between the fan and th e outer shell of the casing into anfl-inner and an outer cylindrical chamber, an opening through the wall and deflector valve, for the passage of trash from the inner chamber, the outer chamber of the fan conducting and passing the trash to the exhaust of the fan.
