This invention relates to ra1lroadcrosstermed a continuous rail crossing.
The principal object of he present invention is to improve and simplifythe general constructionof devices of this character.
A second object of the invention is .to provide an improved device which is capable of being applied to any existing railroad crossingto form the same into. a continuous rail crossing.

Supported in suitable bearings 27 is a rock shaft 28 provided with a rock arm 29 hereby connectedby a rod 30 with any suitable opcrating device as, for instance, a railroad gate. On the rock shaft28 are also double rock arms 31and to each arm ofeacli don 'ble rock arm isiconnected a rod 32 which passes through 'a' suitable opening 33 in one of the filler'members and is connected' within the recess 18 to the cam wedge 22 whereby V to'operate the same. From this construction it will be seen that rocking the shaft 28 in one direction will forceall of the wedges 22 toward'the rock shaft 28 and thussimultaneously raise the filler blocks for filling the gaps over which train wheels must pass when driven on one pair of the tracks. Cor respondingly rocking ,theshaft 28 in the opposite direction will force these filler blocks downward and raise the others so that a train may pass wi'thout jar over the other rails. i

It isobvious that minor changes may eflicient device of the kind described and made in the form and construction of this invention without departingrfrom'the material principles thereof It is nottherefore desired to confine the invention to the exact wished to includeall such as properly come 'within' the scope claimed.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new, is: s 1. The combination with a pair of rails intersecting a second pair of rails; of blocks at the points ofintersection eachihavingfintersecting grooves in its upper surface arranged to accommodate wheel flanges, each of said blocks having apair of vertically disposed recesses opening upwardly into said grooves at the outer sides of the intersection, filler members slidable vertically in said recesses, and means to raise said filler members selectivelyto the level of the top of the rails.
2. The combination with a pair of rails intersecting a second pairof rails; of blocks at the points of intersection each having intersecting grooves in its uppersurface arranged to accommodate wheel flanges, each of said blocks having a pair of vertically disposed recesses'opening upwardly into said grooves at the outer sides ot the intersection,filler members slidable vertically in said recesses, and means to raise said filler members selectively to the level of the top of'the rails, said means operating simultaneously to depress the other filler member.
3. The combination'with a pair ofrails V intersecting'a second pair of rails of blocks 1 'at the points of intersection each having intersecting grooves-in its upper surface arranged to accommodate wheel flanges, each of said blocks having a pair of vertically disposed recesses opening upwardly into said grooves at the outer sidesof the intersection, filler members slidable vertically in said recesses, cam wedges selectively movable to raise said'members selectively, and means to operate said cam'wedges.
4. The combination with a pair of rails intersecting a second pair of rails; of blocks at the points of intersection each having inunder and from beneath said filler members tersecting grooves in its upper surface arranged to accommodate wheel'flanges, each of said blocks having 'a pair of vertically" disposed1 recesses opening upwardly into SZLlCl gIOOVQS at the outer sides of the intersection, filler members slidable vertically in said recesses, cam wedges selectively movable under and from beneath said filler members to raise said members selectively, bell crank levers operated by the movement of said cam wedges frombeneath the filler members and arranged to engage the respective filler member and force the same down ward, and means'to operate all of the wedges simultaneously.
