WILLIAM J. KOLTS, 0F KINGSTON, NEW YORK.
STOVEPIPE-GOLLAR.
Specification of Letters Patent.
-atented Mar. 22, 1921.
Application filed November '7, 1919. Serial No. 336,300.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM J. KoL'rs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kingston, in the county of Ulster and State oi New ork, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in StovepipeCol lars, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in stove pipe collars, the primary object of this invention is to provide a stove pipe collar so constructed that the collar will readily hold a stove pipe in place.
With these and other ends in view which will readily appear as the nature oi? the invention is better understood, the same con sists in the improved construction and novel arrangement and combination of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and particularly pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings has been illustrated a simple and preferred form of the invention, it being, howeyer, understood that no limitation is necessarily made to the precise structural details therein exhibited, but that changes alterations and modifications within the scope of the claim may be resorted to when desired.
In the accompanying drawings:
Figure 1 is a pipe thereof arranged and held by means of a collar constructed according to my in vention.
Fig. 2 the improved collar, projecting from the inner periphery collar.
Fig. 3 is a rear or inner view of the collar, showing how the longitudinal edges of the fingers engage the grooves of the stove pipe. 7
In Fig. 1, of the drawing I have shown a stove and stove pipe of conventional it'orm, and the improved collar 5 is illustrated as securing the stove pipe section where it passes through the wall and the fine. This collar comprises a disk formed of thin metal,
is an enlarged sectional view of showing the fingers of the view of a stove showing the and having a central annular opening of substantially the same size, or if preferred a trlfle larger, than the stove pipe section. .l he stove pipe passes through this opening, and to assist in holding the collar to the stove pipe and to prevent the collar rotating upon the said pipe, fingers 7 are struck up from the collar at intervals around the edge of the central aperture. These fingers are preferably formed integral with tl1e collar, and are dished longitudinallv as shown in Fig. 2. The fingers are adapted to en gage in the grooves of the stove pipe sectlon, as indicated in Figs. 1 and 3. By thus engaging the pipe sect-ion, the latter is held firmly in position in the collar. and the collar is held positively against rotating upon the pipe section. I
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the operation and advantages of my inrention will readily be understood I have entered into a somewhat detailed description of the present and preferred embodiment of my invention in order to impart a definite understanding of the same. I do not desire, however, to be under,- stood as restricting myself to the exact construction shown and described, as various changes or modifications may be made in the form, size, and minor details of construction without departing from the principles or sacrificing any of this invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is: l
A stove pipe collar comprising a disk having an annular opening to receive a grooved stove pipe, and fingers united with said disk and projecting at right-angles to the face thereof from the edge of said opening, each of said fingers being dished on the side adjacent to the said opening and adapted to engage with the grooves of the stove pipe, substantially as shown.
In testimony whereof, I affix my signature.
VILLIAM J. KOLTS.
