' citizen of the United States residing at member 11 having an annular flange 12 at its peripheral edge. An opening 13. is pro- Kankakee, in the county of Iiankakee and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Oil-Stoves, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to oil stoves and more particularly to improved means for mounting the oil reservoir thereof, the aim being to provide means of extremely simple construction and operation for supporting the reservoir of the stove in such a manner that it will be securely held in place but may be quickly and easily removed for the purpose of replenishing the supply of oil or for other purposes.
In the accompanying drawings, wherein I have illustrated a preferred embodiment of my invention, Figure 1 is a fragmentary top plan view of astove embodying the fea? tures of my invention, but with the reser-. voir removed. Fig. 2 is a central sectional view taken on line 22 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a fragmentary vertical section taken on line 3-3 of Fig. 2.
In the drawings 1 indicates a portion of one end of a stove frame having secured thereto a bracket 2, and 3 designates the lower portion of a tank or reservoiradapted to be supported upon the bracket. .4 is an oil well mounted upon the underside of the bracket 2, and 5 is a pipe leading from the reservoir to thestove burners (not shown);
The bracket 2 comprises an upright portion 2 secured to the stove frame 1 as by means of screws 6, and a horizontal portion or ledge 2 projecting outwardly from the frame 1. At the upperend of the upright portion 2 the bracket has an outwardly pro jecting flange 2 against which the reservoir. is adapted to abut and thus be held in its proper position relative to the frame.
T he reservoir 3 may be of any preferred construction. Herein it is shown in the form of a glass bottle having a neck 7 upon the lower end of which is suitably secured an annular metallic member 8 having a bottom 9 with an aperture 10 therein. flange 12 resting upon the u per edge of the opens into the bottom of the well near one edge thereofand leads inwardly through the stoveframe l. The pipe thus assists the bracket 2 in supporting the reservoir 3 and associated parts.
When the reservoir 3 is supported in position upon the bracket, oil is permitted to flow therefrom freely into the well. 4, but means are provided so that when the reservoir is removed from its support the flow of oil therefrom is immediately cut off. This means herein comprises a valve member 14 mounted u on a stem 15 and arranged to seatupon 't e edge of the opening 10 in the bottom plate 9 of the annular member 8. A spring 16- bearing between said valve member and a cage 17 entered within the neck and secured to said plate 9 normally tends to seat the valve member 14.. The parts are so arranged, however, that when the reservoir is in its operative position the valve stem engages with the bottom of the well 4 and holds the valve member 14:,against the action ofthe spring 16, in its raised position. The means for securing the reservoir 3 in position upon the bracket 2 preferably comprises a horizontal slide member or sleeve 18. This member is substantially rectangular in form and is adapted to substantially surround the well 1 and horizontal portion 2? ofthe bracket. I As a means for limiting the outward sliding movement of the member 18, I provide 2 a stop member 25 in the form of a strap entered through a slot in the upright portion 2= of the bracket immediately above the hor- 7 portion 25* of the sto member 25, and the parts are relatively arranged so that the 7 forward movement of the member is limited just as the enlarged portion of the aperture '23 comes into register with the aperture 13 (broken lines Fig. 1), upon the edge of which is seated the flange 12 of the cup member 11. In this position of the parts it will be seen that the reservoir may be readily withdrawn upwardly, the cup member 11 passing throughthe enlarged portion of the aperture 23. When the slide is in this position, the portion 25 of the stop member is arranged to engage in a notch 23 formed in the top plate 19 at the rear edge of the aperture 23 '(Fig. 1). To again lock the reservoir in position it will be apparent that it is only necessar i to insert the cup member into place with its flange resting upon the edge of the aperture 13 and then slide the member 18 rearwardly into the position shown in full lines in Fig. 1 when the restricted portion of the aperture 23 overlies the cup 11. In this operation, the stop member 2 5,'-"by reason of the engagement of the flange 12 of the cup member withthe forward edge'of the-hook portion 25 of the stop member. also serves to assist in holding the cup member in position while the member '18 is slid rearwardly. This arrangement is particularly advantageous in the event that the member 11 is so shaped that I it"wil'l'not engage with the edge of the aperture 13 as herein shown.

While I have herein illustrated and described the invention with considerable paropening in said ledge, and a slide member on said ledge comprising a plate having an aperture therein adapted in one position of the member to engage the flange member of: the reservoir to hold it in position and in another position of the member to pass said flange member and to permit the removal of the reservoir.
2. In an oil stove, the combination with an oil reservoir, of supporting means therefor comprising a horizontal supporting ledge, said reservoir having a flange member rigid therewith, a seat upon said ledge, and a slide member on said ledge having an aperture therein of a size adapted to receive said flange member in one position 01 the slide member but being normally located out of register with said flange member whereby to hold it in position on said ledge.

In an oil stove, the combination with a reservoir having a discharge nozzle, means for supporting the reservoir comprising a horizontal ledge having an aperture therein, an oil well secured on the underside of said ledge and having a bottom wall, a flange member on said reservoir adapted to rest upon the edge of the aperture in said ledge and rigid with the discharge nozzle of the reservoir, a valve member in said discharge nozzle including a stem normally adapted to engage with the bottom of the well. to hold the valve means inoperative, and a slide member for locking the reservoir in position comprising a plate having an aperture therein adapted in one position of the slide to pass said flange member and in another position thereof to operatively engage therewith to prevent the withdrawal thereof.
4. In an oil stove, the combination with a reservoir having a discharge outlet and an oil well, of means for supporting said reservoir with its nozzle discharging into said well comprising a bracket having a horizontalportion with an aperture therein, a
part rigid with the reservoir resting upon the edgeof said aperture, and a locking slide movable longitudinally upon said bracket and adapted in one position to engage with said part to hold the reservoir in position and in another positionto release said art for removal with the reservoir.
5. 11 an oil stove, the combination with an oil well and a reservoir adapted to discharge thereinto, of means for locking said reservoir in position with reference to said well comprising a part rigid with the reservoir and a locking member longitudinally movable in a horizontal plane with reference to the reservoir and well and adapted in one position to engage with said part to hold the reservoir in position and in another position to permit the withdrawal of said art with said reservoir.
6. 11 an oil stove, the combination with a frame, an oil well rigid with said frame, and a reservoir adapted to discharge into said well, and having a horizontally projecting part, of means for locking the reser-' voir in position comprising a longitudinally slidable member engaging said well and said part on the reservoir and adapted in one position thereof to permit the removal of said part with said reservoir and in another position to hold the part against withdrawal.
7. In an oil stove, the combination with a frame, of a bracket mounted on the frame and comprising a horizontal plate having an aperture therein, a reservoir having a part rigid therewith and adapted to engage in said aperture, and locking means for said reservoir comprising a horizontal sliding member having an aperture therein with a portion of a size substantially less than said part whereby to hold it upon said plate and a portion of a size sufficient to pass said part to permit the removal thereof with the reservoir.
8. In an oil stove, comprising a frame, an oil well at one end of said frame and having a discharge pipe rigid therewith and passing through the frame, of an oil reservoir arranged to discharge into said well, and means longitudinally slidable relative to said reservoir for locking it in position with reference to said well, said means being adapted in one position thereof to permit the withdrawal of the reservoir.
9. In an oil stove, the combination with a reservoir, of means for supporting the reservoir comprising a horizontal support and a part rigid with said reservoir adapted to cooperatively engage with said support and means for locking said reservoir in position comprising a longitudinally movable member adapted to normally lock the reservoir in position on said support and means for limiting the extent of movement of said member.
10. In an oil stove comprising a frame, a bracket mounted on said frame and having a horizontal portion, an oil well on the underside of said horizontal ledge, an oil reservoir having a discharge outlet arranged to discharge into said well, a member slidably engaging said ledge and adapted in its normal position to lock the reservoir against withdrawal but adapted to permit such withdrawal when slid into another position, and a stop member fixed with reference to said ledge and adjacent the part upon the reservoir for limiting the movement of the slide member in one direction and holding said part against movement when slid in the opposite direction.
11. In an oil stove, the combination with a horizontal supporting ledge having an oil well secured on its underside and having an opening therein, an oil reservoir having an outlet arranged to discharge through said opening into said well, and means for locking the reservoir in position upon the ledge but permitting its withdrawal therefrom comprising a slide member slidably engaging with said well and said ledge, said member having an aperture therein for permitting its movement relative to the reservoir.
