Description

UNITED STATES- PATENT OF -10E.
ononen s. HUNT, 0F SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA.
IMPROVEMENT-IN ANTI-FRICTION METALS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 136,163, dnted February 25, 1 7
To all whom it may concern: 7
lie it known that I, GEORGE S. HUNT, of the city and county of Sacramento, State of (lalitbrnia, have invented or discovered a new Uombination of Metals for Producing an Anti- Friction Metal or Alloy; and I do hereby declnre that the following is a true description of the some, together with the names of the ditl'erent metals employed in forming my alloy, and the proportions of each to be used.
My invention relates to a new and useful combination of metals for the purpose of producing an alloy suitable for lining axle-boxes and other frictional surfaces as an anti-friction metal, and which I call I X L metal.
My newelloy consists in the combination of the following metals, in the proportion given:
Lead, live (5) pounds; antimony, one l) pound plumbago, one (1) ounce.
This combination gives a soft metal for frictional surfaces which is much superior to the ordinary Babbitt metal.
Having described my inventionor discovery,
what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- l v An anti-friction metal compounded oi" the materials above mentioned, in the proportions
