BLOWER-PIPE-RAISING DEVICE. Y y
Specification of Letters Patent. l
Iatented Nov. 23, 19,20.
Application filed May 16, 1919.v Serial No. 297,678.
To all wtom t may concern.'
y' Be it known that T, JAMES A. DAVIDSON, a citizen of the `United States, residing at Loveland, in the county of Larimer and State of Colorado, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Blower- Pipe-Raising Devicesfand l do hereby declare'the following to be a full, clear, andY may be readily applied to an ensilage cutter'v of standard construction, and by means of which the blower tube or pipe of the cutter may be readily raised into position to discharge into a silo. A further object is to provide a device which maybe quickly and easily yadjusted to suit circumstances. Another object is to provide a device which will occupy a minimum of space and may be readily mounted upon the structure of the ensilage cutter. Further objectsv will appear from the detailed description.
1n the drawings: i
,Figure .1 is a side view of a raising deviceconstructed in accordance with my invention as applied. v M
Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the same.
Fig. 3 is a section taken substantially on line 3-3 of Fig. 2.
Fig. 'A is a detail of thevlowerportion of the raising device and the bracingl and adjusting means therefor. A
Fia. 5 is a detail of the locking pawl for the drum.
This device is adapted to be used in connection with an ensilage cutter designated generally 'by A of any suitable or standard construction, this cutter including the supporting frame B and a blower C all of well known construction. A llexible blowing pipe or tube D is adapted to be secured at its lower end to the discharge tube E'of the blower. this pipe being provided at its upper end with a discharge elbow F for directing the ensilage into the silo.
In applyingmy raising device, I provide a supporting platform 1 which is rigdly se cured to frame B and extends in advance of the blower C. VThis platform supports an annular bearing plate 2 of I-cross section, the upper end of this plate fitting Iinto an annular channel ring 3 disposed concentric with a socket member 4L secured to the upper face of platform 1, this socket member receiving' al ball 5 depending from and rigidly securedl to the lowerend of the lifting device designated generally by 6. Ring 3 is provided on its upper face with three pairs of spaced ears 7 which receive heads at the lower ends of T-rods 8V positioned in aline.
ment with similar rods 9 pivotally secured between ears 1() carried by the raising device 6, the adjacent ends of thesevrods being connected by a turnbuckle 11. By means oit' the rods 8 and 9 and the turnbuckles l1, the raising. device can be readilyadjustod so as 'to be tilted in any desired direction, and this device can also be readily turned or rotated upon ball 5` by turning the ring 3 and the parts associatedV therewith. This provides a universal adjustment or the raising device so that it may be readily moved .into any desired position to hold the discharge elbow or hood of the blower pipe of the cutter in properposition to discharge into a silo. y
The raising device 6 includes a plurality of telescoping members 12 of rectangular cross section and each provided in one side wall with a longitudinally extending slot 13, all of the slots of the members being in alinemeningas illustrated. `The innermost member l2V is provided with an inwardly projecting tab 14 through which is secured one end of a raising and lowering cable 15. This cable is led upwardly over a pulley 16 carried by inwardly projecting tabs 17 adjacent the upper end of the next to `the innermost member 12, the pulley being then led downwardly about a pulleyV 18 carried bv this memberfadjacent' they lower end thereof, after whichl the cable is led up.
wardly over a lpulley 19carried by the next to the outermost member 12 adjacent the upper end thereof and downwardly about a
