To allwhom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN L. MUELLER, a citizen of the United States, and residing at St; Louis, Missouri, have invented the new and useful Improvement in Measuring and Cutting Mechanisms, of which the following is a specification. f
This invention relates to measuring and cutting mechanism, and more particularly to measuringand cutting, mechanism for table oil cloth. This application is a con tinuation in part of application Serial Nuin ber 833,934, filed April 23, 1914..
Table oil cloth is supplied in rolls and is often sixty inches wide; the rolls are, therefore, as much as sixty inches in length. Such oil cloth is comparatively thin and has no stiffness, so that it is rather inconvenient to handle. Such oil cloth has, moreover, a pattern on one side, and this pattern is on the inside when rolled up; but when displayed, the pattern should be on the outside.
One of the objects of this invention, therefore, is to provide mechanism for accurately. dispensing, measuring and cutting oil cloth, constructed so that the oil cloth can be measured directly from the rolls, and accurately measured and cut square across. Another object is to provide mechanism for rewinding the oil cloth, so as to place the pattern on the outside.
Further objects will appear from the detail description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which, Figure 1 is a side elevation of a combination display and dispensing device embodying this invention;
Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail taken in the direction of the line 2-2, Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is a section on the line 33, Flg. 1; Fig. 4 is. a detail of Fig. 3, showing the measuring device;
Fig. 5 is a detail of one end of the carrier, showing the latching device;
Fig. 6 is an enlarged section on the line 66, Figs. 1 and 2; and,
Fig. 7 is a detail perspective of the windin roll.
Tteferring to the accompanying drawing, 10 designates a base supporting a rotary carrier 11, which rotary carrier is adapted to detachably support rolls of oil cloth 12, at the top and bottom. Clamps 13 are provided for clamping the rolls intermediate their ends, and hold the oil cloth in'rolled f MEasUnme AND CUTTING MECHANISM. V I
