To all whom t may concern Y a citizen ofthe United States, residing` at Rushville, in the county of Sheridan and State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in I-Iinges or Hangers; and I do herebyV declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled'in thev art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to devices for hanging or mounting storm windows and doors, Screens, and the like, in the casings or frames thereof, and has for its primary object the provision of novel and improved, yet simple and inexpensive means for detachably hanging or mounting the door, vvindow, screen or other barrier within its frame or casing and enabling the barrier to be readily applied and removed. Another object is the -provision of such a device enabling the barrier to be fastened and unfastened from the side opposite to the fastening means or hinge connection, such as for the purpose of enabling the door, window, screen or other barrier to he mounted in the frame or casing and fastened and unfastened from the inside, with the fastening means or hinge connection on the reX- terior.

A still further object is the provision of means carried by the barrier 'member and operable manually from one side of the barrier member and having means on the opl posite side movable into and out 'of engagement with keepers on the frame or'casing,

`thereby affording, convenient means for mounting the barrier member, with provision forY the quick and convenient application of the barrier to and the removal or demounting thereof from the frame or casing. 1

a With the foregoing and other object in view, which will be apparent as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the construction and arrangement ofparts hereinafter .described and claimed, it being understood-that changes can 'be made'within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Operating arms 17 extend at an angle:

from the inner' ends of the journal portions V11 in a direction opposite to the direction in which the arms 12 extend, and said arms 1 7 have finger pieces 18 extending at an angle from the free ends thereof away from the barrier at the inner side' thereof. Each catch or hinge member is bent of a single length ofwire vorv other suitable material, yas shown, and constitutes a, lever having'the journal or fulcrum portion 11 journaled through the barrier 'from one side tothe other, withtthe'short arm 12 on the outside andV having a'hook 13 or means to engage the keeper, and the long'arm 17 on the inside Vand having a finger piece or handle for swinging the hook 13 into and out oftengageinent withthe keeper. It is preferable to provide ystuds'19 on the inner surface hooks 13 through the keepers, thereby preventing accidental disconnection. These studs may be -headed tacks driven into the barrier, or the like, in the proper position vso that the arms 17 swing over said studs` or heads vof the tacks whenthe hooks 13` are swung v'into position in engagement with the keepers, as seen in Fig. 1. One of the hooks`15 is shown in Fig. 1 in dotted lines yin releasing position, and the hooks swing in opposite directionsinto the keepers in Y the arrangement shown.

Thus when the arms 17 are swung on the inside of the barrier, this moves the hooks 13 'onfthe'outsidethrough the keepers, and the arms 17 are then retained in position by studsl19 other equivalent means. iThe :barrier: is then VfreeV to rswing open due to the A'hinge connection between'the hooks 13 of the catches and the hooks 10 Vof 'the keepers,

although the devices can be used at the oppo site 'vertical edges ofthe barrier and frame 'if desired. The barrier is readily removed,

hinge members having loops and hooks movable into and out of engagement inl one position of the barrier' and so arranged as to prevent disengagement in the other position of the barrier.

In a hinge construction, the combina tion with a frame and a barrier, of hinge members carried by the frame having loops, and pivoted hinge members carried by the barrier having hook-s to move through said loops, said loops being arranged for the entrance and Withdrawal of the hooks When the barrier is in one position and to prevent the removal of the hooks when the barrier is inthe opposite position. i
