LABEL.
Specificat'ion of Letters Patent.
atented Aug. 10, 1920.
Application filed October is, 1919. Serial No. 331,648. r
To all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, RAY A. VAN CLIEF, a
' citizen of the United States,'and a resident of Buffalo, in the countyof Erie and State of New York, have invented anew and Improved Label, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description. I
This invention relates to improvements I in labels and more particularly to poison labels for bottles or other containers, an object ofthe invention being to provide a label of improved construction havin luminous letters which can be readily dlstinguished at night.
A further object of the invention is to provide a label which will obviate accidents, such as are caused by persons in the dark taking poison unintentionally.
A further object is to provide a label which can be attached to any bottle or container and which is so constructed that the luminous paint or other material forming the letters is entirely inclosed and protecte from the air so that it will retain its luminous qualities for an indefinite period.
With these and other objects in view the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, and combinations and arrangements of parts, asw-ill be more fully hereinafter described and pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings Figure '1 is a view illustrating my 'improved label on a bottle;
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the label,
and
its result is to cause the adjacent surfaces of the sheets to adhere to each other so that they form,'in effect, a single sheet of celluloid and effectively inclose the letters so that the latter are .not subjected to the action of the air. and will retain their luminous qualities for an indefinite period.
The label may, of course, be fixed to the bottle or container in any desiredmanner.
I claim: v 4
As a new article ofmanufacture, arelatively thin, light, flexible, and luminous poison label for bottles and the like adapted to be secured to a .poisonholding container, said label comprising two sheets of celluloid, letters of luminous material located on the outer face of the inner sheet,
and said contacting surfaces of said sheets coalesced confining the material of the letters and forming in effect a single flexible transparent label.
RAY ALAN VAN CLIEF.
