Be it known that I, PATRICK F. IIAGGERTY, a citizen of the UnitedStates, residing at New Yorl ,New York county, andNewYork State, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stopping-Out Machines for Electrotypers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to electrotyping apparatus stopping out machines, by which the case is subjected to coatings on certain portions of the intaglio case which is coated with wax or other non-conductive and insoluble substances to prevent an unnecessary electrical deposit on any portion but the type mold, and the object of the machine is to evenly and thoroughly cover the desired parts with the wax deposit rapidly and with practically no handling by the operator.
These and other objects and details of the invention are more fully described in the following specification, set forth in the appended claims, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:

In the practice of stopping out the case for electrotyping, as heretofore practised, it has heretofore been the practice to apply heated liquefied wax to the case by means of a brush, but this method has been found objectionable because the plate is generally damp and moist and the wax at certain points, fails to adhere to the plate and the brush is liable to apply the wax in various depths of thickness at some points and scrape it away at others.
The present invention is adapted to first heat and dry the case and then apply an even coating of wax to the back of the plate. These operations are performed by the device shown and it consists of a box or frame 5, mounted on legs 6, and having a door 7, at one end to afford access to a gas burner 8, or other heating means. About midway of the top of the frame is located a p an 9, un-

A third set of rollers 17, is journaled at the other end of the frame and are adapted to receive the case from the waxing rollers, cool them and pass them on to the table 18. These rollers may be solid or made up of two parts.
The above described rollers all carry worm wheels 19, at one end of their shafts and these wheels are driven by the worms 20, on a shaft 21, journaled at one side of the case 5, and driven by a pulley 22, which derives its power from any desired quarter.

It is obvious that the parts may be otherwise arranged or modified without departing from the essential features above described or from the scope of the appended claims. I

In a stopping out machine for electrotypers, the combination of a frame supporting a pan adapted to contain a liquefied non-conductive substance, rollers journaled on the edge of the pan and'adapted to carry the non-conductive substance, feeding rollers, and meansfor-heating the pan and the feeding rollers.
