Description

R. RAMOS AND A. DE CARDENAS. DEVICE FOR CONNECTING 0X YOKES TO CART POLES.
APPLICATION FILED MAY I9, I9 I-9.
Patented June 22, 1920,
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
RAFAEL RAMOS .AND AMBROSE-DE CARDENAS, OF AGUADA n! PASAJ EROS, CUBA.
nnvrcnron CONNECTING OXYOKES T0 CART-Poms;
To all whom it may concern Be it known that we,- RArAIiL RAMos and AMBROSE DE CARDENAs, citlzens of the Reprovements in a Devicefor Connecting 'Ox-' Yokes to Cart-Poles,of whichthe following is a specification. g 7
This invention relates to the devices for connecting an ox yoke tothe pole of carts, and its object is to provide a device of this kind which is of simpler and cheaper construction than the other similar devices at present in use and it also provides a secure connection, no block" being required between the yoke and the pole.
The invention is described with reference to the figures of the annexed drawings, in which: I
Figure l is a side elevation View of a yoke and the front portion of a pole, connected together with the device forming the subject-matter of this invention. 7
. Fig. 2 is an end view of' the same. 1
Fig. 3 is an'upper plan view.
Fig. 4 is a vertical section on line 4-4 of Fig. 3. g i
And Fig. 5 is a perspective detail view showing the connectin device disengaged.
Assuming a yoke 1 for yoking. oxen and a pole 2 on which .the former is to be held, the device for connecting same together according to the present invention consists in a transverse narrow plate 3 arranged on the upper plain face of the yoke and provided with a raised fiange l at eachie'nd, and on the upper face of this plate 3 rest near its. end flanges at two longitudinal rectangular shaped plates 5 which projectto the front and to the rearof the central portion of the yoke, and each one of these lon itudinal plates 5 is provided with two ho es, each Specificationof Letters Patent, P t t J n 22, 1920;
Application filed May 19,1919, Serial I No. 298,234.
one near each end, adapted to receive the upwardly projecting threaded ends of a U-shaped clamp 6 whose portions remain respectively near the fore'and rear faces'of yoke ,1, this yoke being provided at its central portion with front projections 7 and rearprojections S which serve to keep apart the clamps 6, and both clamps are connected 7 together by a" U-shaped, metal member 9 forming an eye 10 at each end for embracmg the lower portion of each clamp, the .lower portion of the member 9 being inserted in a notch 11 formed in the lower face of the pole 2, and on the projecting threaded ends of clamps 6 arethreaded nuts 12 tightened against the upper plates 5, thus firmly securing the device in place.
I It is obvious that the form of the plates above the yoke and of the clamps ,andthe member connecting the same can be sli htly changed without altering the spirit 0% the invention, which'is as pointed out in the 1 appended claim.
- That we claim is: I
A device for connecting the yoke to the cart-pole, comprising a pair of U-shaped clamps embracing the yoke laterally of the pole, a plate resting on the central portion of theyoke and having raised flanges on its ends," plates resting transversely on the first plate near the flanges thereof and projecting to the front and to the rear of the yoke, these second plates being provided at its pros jecting portions "with holes through which pass the upper ends of the clamps,"a U- shaped member beneath the pole connecting one clamp with the other one and being inserted in a notch in the pole, and nuts screwed on the threaded ends of said clamps and tightening against the projecting ends of the clamps. f p
In witness whereof we afiix our signatures.
' RAFAEL RAMOS.
