APPLICA ION FILED OCT 30. I919.
Patented May 18,1920
The forward end portions of the arms 7 and 8 also extend inwardly in the direction of each other rearwardly of the outwardly curved portions 9 and 10 whereby the garments are more securely held together when engaged by the device. 7
The split loop 11 as will be noted divides the lower spring arm 8 into two sections each of which functions independently of the other and effectively cooperates with the upper arm 7 in gripping the garments.
As illustrated in F ig.. e, the entire device is curved longitudinally to conform to the curvatureof the limb. r 7
In the practice of the invention, the upper edge portion of a sock and the adjacent portion of a garment are gripped preparatory to applying the device. In attaching the improved hose support, the same is connected with the garments in the manner illustrated in Fig. 1. When applied the device lies close to the limb and is prevented from being rolled upon the removal of the trousers by the downwardly propecting split loop 11. In locating the split loop 11 at the intermediate portion of the lower arm, portions of the garment are also prevented from sliding within this loop after the device hasbeen applied for some time. It will be noted that the upper portion of the split loop '11 is formed with a restricted throat which cooperates with the spring arms and the shoulder 14 in forming a gripping means forthe upper portion of a hose and the adjacent portion of the undergarment.
It is to be understood that the form of the invention herein shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same andtliat such minor changes in arrangement and construction of parts may be made as will remain within the spirit of the invention and the scope of what is claimed.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is: I
A device of the class described formed from a single length of round spring wire including upper and lower spring arms having their rear end portions connected, said upper arm being extended inwardly at a point spaced from one end to provide a retaining shoulder, said lower arm being provided intermediate its ends with a downwardly extending split manipulating loop therebydividing said lower arm into a pair of independent spring sections cooperating lower spring arms adapted for engaging the upper portion of a hose and theadjacent portion of the undergarment, said upperarm being extended inwardly adjacent its rear end for cooperating withthe adjacent portion of the lower arm in forming a re stricted entrance opening to the space between the rear portions of the arms, said, lower arm being provided intermediate its ends with a downwardly extending split manipulating loop disposed in the vertical plane of said upperand lower arms and adapted to engage the limb for securing said upper and lower arms against rotation, the upper portion of said split loop being formed with a restricted throat.
8. A hose support constructed from a length of spring wire formed to provide up-- per and lower arms, said lower aim being of spaced independently movable spring sec-- tions coacting with the upperarin to form a gr pping means,sa1d split loop being dis posed in the plane of said arms and adapted to engage the limbs below said arms for se-- curing the device against rotation.
