i c To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CLARK T. Hnxmznson, a citizen of the United States. residing at Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee 5 and State of Wisconsin, have invented new and useful Improvements in Circuit-Controllers, of which the following is a full, clear, concise, and exact description, reference being had to theaccompanying draw- 10, in", forming a part of this specification.
This invention relates to improvements in circuit controllers.
More particularly the invention relates to circuit breakers, especially those of the overload type and has among provide a simple and effective controller of this'character which will be insured a inst tele 'raphin 2 furthei object is to provide a simple and effective protective controller of the aforesaid character wherein two single pole elctromagnetic switches are employed as a double pole switch.
Other objects and advantages will hereinafter appear.
The accompanying drawing diagrammatically illustrates one embodiment of the invention and the same will now be described, it being understood that the controller illustrated is only one of the possible embodiments of the invention.
The controller illustrated includes two electromagnetic switches 1 and 2 to comlete circuit,between supply lines L and L and translating lines 1 and 1', said switches constituting the equivalent of a doublepole switch. Also the controller includes two overload switches 3 and 4 for tripping the line switches 1 and 2 and a 40. push button control switch togetherwith auxiliary contacts associated with the switch 2 to eifect setting of the line switches.
' The overload switches 3 and 4 have their operating windings connected.in opposite sides of the circuit and both switches are included in series with the operating winding of each line switch. Thus it will be apparent that response of either overload switch will interrupt the circuit of both line switches, thereby effecting interruption of both sides of the controlled circuit.
The push button control switch 5 is provided with a pair of down contacts 6 and a pair of up contacts 7. Bridging of the down contacts ompletes an energizing circuit for its objects to- Specification 01 Letters Patent. Patented Blay 1 1,1920.

the line switch 2 while bridging of the up contacts establishes a maintaining circuit for the switch 2 and an energizing circuit for the switch 1, said last two mentioned circuits being also dependent upon response of switch 2 to bridge its auxiliary contacts 8, a and 10.
.More specifically describing the circuit connections, when the switch 5 is depressed it completes circuit from line L by conductors 11 and 12, through the winding of switch 2, by conductor 13, through the overload switch 3, by conductor 14, through the overload switch 4, by conductor 15 'to line L. Thus switch 2 will at once respond to complete one side of the controlled circuit and to brid 10. This establishes a maintaining circuit ge its auxiliary contacts 8, 9 and for the switch 2 from line L, byconductors 11 and16, through auxiliary contacts8 and 10, by conductor 17, to and through the winding of switch 2,. as already traced. Switch 1, however, will not respond and in consequence the controlled circuit will not be completed until the push button switch 5 isreleased. When switch 5' is released it completes circuit from line L, by conductors 11 and 16, through auxilia contacts 8 and 9 of switch 2, through ts up contacts 7, by conductor 19, through the winding of switch 1, to conductor 13 and thence through both overload switches to line L, as already traced. Switch 1 thereupon responds to complete the controlled circuit subject to subsequent interruption by response of either overload switch.- As before stated upon response of either overload switch both line switches are denergized. 3
