SHOE-CLOSIN G DEVICE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 27, 1920.
Application filed December 3, 1919. Serial No. 342,063.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, STEVE O. TYMUs, a v
citizen of Ukrainia, residing at Vinnipeg, Province of Manitoba, and Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shoe-Closing Devices, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to improvements in buckles and clasps, particularly that type used for the closure of shoes, arctics or storm shoes and the like.
The main object of the present invention is the production of a buckle or shoe closure which is simple in its functions and cheap to manufacture, and which will readily and effectually close a shoe or boot against the entrance of snow, slush, dirt, etc.
The invention will now be described in the following specification, reference being had particularly to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a perspective View of a shoe with a closing device according to the present invention Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section through the closing device on line 2-2 of Fig. 3.
Fig. 3 is a top plan view of the closing device per se, and,
Fig. 4 is a cross section through the same on line 4-4 of Fig. 3.
A shoe 10 of the customary build, having the ordinary lace closure 11' is provided at its upper end with a closure or clasp 12 of peculiar construction, more fully to be described hereinafter.
The body 13 of the closing device is comprised of two slidingly engaged plates or members 14 and 15 each provided at its outer end with a holding clamp 16 for the straps l7 and 18 secured to the shoe in the customary well known manner. The member 15 has a central longitudinal groove in its underside, and the member 14 is provided with a plurality of cross-notches 19 producing the ridges 20 adapted to be engaged by the front member or bill 21 of a yoke 22, the shanks of which are passed from opposite sides through recesses 23 in the edges of the member 15 toward the rear thereof where they meet as shown at 24 in Fig. 3 and are guided parallel to the front to form a shank 25 resting against a spring 26 within the groove in the under side of said member 15. I
In operation the yoke 22 is lifted out of engagement with the notches 19 and 19, and passed into any of the other notches for ad justing the closure to any size of the wearers ankle, while the shoe can be taken off by simply lifting the yoke out of engagement with any of the recesses or notches.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is y A fastener of the character described comprising a body composed of two sliding signature.
STEVE O. TYMUS.
