FUEL- mlse, a citizen of the .United States, and residing at Froslyn, L. l., .in the county of assau and State of New York, have invented certain nenv and useful improvements in ironing-Boards, of which the following is a speciiication, such as will enable those skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

rFhis invention relates to ironing boards and the object thereof is to provide a device ot this class which is combined -with an ordinary table designed for general use, and Which forms a part of the table and is normally Hush therewith but which may be raised and supported above the table when necessary for use as an ironing board.

T he invention is Jiully disclosed in the tolloiving specification, ot which the accompanying drawing forms a part, in which the separate ,parts of my improvement are designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which Figure l is a longitudinal sectional View of table provided With my improved ironing board and indicating the method ot its use;

The toggle lever member da is provided at one end with a V-shaped head Z6 adapted to tit in the ii-shaped support c, and at the other end with a transverse head piece al? having vshaped recess d@ adapted to rew ceive the tongue 54 of the block b3.

ln the normal position oi these parts the ironing board is in the position shown in `tull lines in Fig. l and the table a, mayr be used for any desired purpose, but When it is desired to use the ironing board pressure is applied to the bottom ot' said board from beneath, and said board is raised into the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. l, in which position the ends of the toggle lever member (Z3 engage the parts c and b3 as clearly indicated in dotted lines, and the ironing board is rinly held in its raised position and may be used in the same manner as lother devices of its class, and when the use of said board is finished, it may be loivered into the position shoivn in full lines in Fig. l by slightly raising it and allowing the toggle lever member Z3 to swing freely.

`With my improvement, as Will be seen, l provide a combined table and ironing board vwhich may be used for either of the purposes named, Whenever necessary, and a saving space is thus effected together with a saving in the manufacture oiI articles of the class referred to, and While I have shown and described certain forms of construction necessary in carrying my invention into ef- Jrect. the invention is not limited to the details of construction herein shown and described, and changes therein and modiiications tl'iereot may be made, within the scope orn the appended claims, Without departing from the spirit of the invention or sacrificing` its advantages.

It Will be seen on consideration of Figs. l and 2 ot the drawing that when the ironing board Zi is in its normal position it rests on the transverse support am, one of the sides a3 of the boX member a2 and the longi tudinal partition wall a9. t 'will also be seen that by reason of the tongue and groove connection of the toggle lever members cl3 with the block b3, the ironing board b, or the free end thereof, is held against lateral movement on said lever members, and by reason of the V-shaped form of the support 0 and the V-shaped head ZG on the lever members (Z3, the ironing board b is against upward tilting when downward pressure is applied to the block end b3 of the board.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

A table provided with an aperture of the shape of an ironing board, an ironing board adapted to t in said aperture, said ironing board being provided on the bottom of one vend portion thereof with a keeper and the frame ofthe table being provided with another keeper, a toggle lever member pivoted to the bottom of one end portion of the board opposite the first named keeper, and another toggle leverrmember pivoted oentrally of the first named toggle lever member and the ends of which are adapted to engage and operate in connection with said keepers whereby the board may be raised and held in an elevated position for use and lowered when not in use into said aperture Hush with the table.
