Description

J. J. WEITHAUS.
LIQUID HYDROCARBON VAPOR PRODUCER.
APPLICATION FILED FEB. 9. 1917.
1,337, 1 O8. Patented Apr. 13, 1920.
I WIT/VESSEL?- m YKM V W carbon fuel 9, the compressed air is ad-' and then conducted back through the pipe- 18, where the mixture is cooled and then led into the tank 8 above the liquid hydrocarbon for the purpose of regenerating and enriching the vapor being formed therein and assisting in the formation of the vapor. Any unvaporized particles of liquid hydro carbon that may pass from the pipe 18 and chamber 19 into the tank 8 will, owing to their greater weight, descend to the bottom of the chamber while the gaseous matter will rise mingling with the vapor above the body of liquid. The pressure of the air within the tank 8 will cause the vapor to rise and collect in the domes 19' and 20,thus from these domes the completed vapor is led by the pipe 17 to a suitable means of utilization.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is; v
1. In combination with a vessel containing air under continuous pressure, a liquid hydrocarbon containing tank, a main air pipe leading from said source into said tank,
' a liquid hydrocarbon conduit pipe opening from the lower end of said tank, the openend of said air pipe projecting down into said liquid hydrocarbon conduit, air conveying pipes leading into the tank from the main air line and terminating above the liquid, cutolf valves in said pipes, an external vaporizer including a coil. through which hydrocarbon is led and a heater for said coil, a cooling and conveying pipe leading from the vaporizer back to the tank above the level of the liquid and means for drawing off the vapor from the upper end of the tank.
2. In combination with a vessel containing air under continuous pressure, a liquid hydrocarbon containing tank, a main air pipe leading from said vessel into said tank, a liquid-hydrocarbon conduit pipe opening from the lower end of said tank, air conveying pipes 'leading into the tank from the main air line and terminating above the liquid, cutofi valves in said pipes, an external vaporizer including a coil through which hydrocarbon is led from said tank and a heater for said coil, a cooling and conveying pipe leading from the vaporizer back to the tank above the level of the liquid and means for drawing off the vapor from the upper end of the tank.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal at Indianapolis, Indiana, this 5th day of February, A. D. nineteen hundred and seventeen.
