Be it known that we, HENRY C. DORN and HERMAN A. Lunoxn,citizens of the United States, and residents of Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of Wiscon.- sin, have invented new and useful Improve* ments in Bottle-Receptacles, of which the following is a description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which are a part of this specification.

The invention relates to improvements in bottle 'receptacles more particularly adapted for containing milk bottles.

It is one of the objects of the present invention Vto-vprovide a bottle receptacle in the form of an open box having means for holding the bottles in spaced relation with respect to each other. A

A further object of the invention is to provide a bottle receptacle in which the bottles are yieldingly supported in separated positions to eliminate liability of breaking during handling.

A further object of the invention is to provide a bottle receptacle in which the bottles are supported and maintained in separated positions by rod and sheet metal parts forming part of the receptacle. y

A further object of the invention is to provide a bottle receptacle which may be easily kept in a sanitary condition.

A further object of the invention -is `to provide a bottle receptacle which is of simple construction, is strong and durable, and is' well adapted for the purpose described.v

With the above and other objects in view the invention consists of the improved bottle receptacle and its parts and combinations as set -forth in the claims, and all equivalents thereof.

Figure 1 is a top view of the improved bottle receptacle, the bottle being' indicated by dotted circles;

Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view thereof taken on line 2-2 of Fig. 1; and

Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view thereof taken on line 3-3 of Fig. 1.

Referring to the drawing the numeral 5 indicates a wooden rectangular box like structure having thin side portions 6 and heavier end portions 7 which are nailed or otherwise fastened together in any manner desired. The lower corner edges of the freceptacle are reinforced by lower angular ychanneled corner `members 8 which lare fastened to vboth the ends and sides of .the box by rivets 9. The upper corner edge yportions,

of the box'are also reinforced by upper angular reinforcing members 10 which are also connected to the box'lby rivets 11. The said upper reinforcing members 10 have inwardly offset and upwardly extendingangular stacking :projections 12 -which are shaped to fit the lower reinforcing vcorner members 8 and hold the boxes in stacked relation.

The box or receptacle is divided into bottle compartments 131by upper and lower longitudinal .partition rods 14 and l`1 ar 1d upper transverse rods 16, and lower transverse `partition plates 17; The longitudinal and transverse rods 14 and 16 are positioned medially of the height of the box, and. extend approximately in the same plane, and at the points of crossing each other are bent or crimped as indicated by the numeral 18 to form interlocking connections therebetween.

The lower edge portions 1.9 of the partition plates 17 lare folded over to reinforce the same, and the 'end portions 2O of said partitions are bent at right angles for attachment to the ysides of the box by rivets 21.

The ends of the lpartition rods 14 and 15 extend into the thick end members of the box as clearly shown in Fig. 2, whereas the ends of thepartition rods 16 extend through the side members 6 of the box, and are riveted over washers 16 as clearly indicated in Fig. 3. The lower partition rods 15 extend through the v.partition plates, and at the oints ofconnection are bent or crimped 'to iorm an interlocking `connection therebetween as indicated by the numeral 21.

Longitudinally extending rods' 22 also extending through the ypartition plates and having crimped interlocking connections 23 therewith, and having their end portionsalso embedded in the end members 7 serve as yielding bottom supports for the bottles.

It will be noted that some of the upper,

longitudinal and transverse rods are interwoven or yextend alternately above and below each other to form a morel firm structure.

thepurpose described. What we claim as our invention is:

1. A bottle receptacle, comprising side and .end members connected.V together to form a box-like structure'with an open top and 'bottom portion, spaced upper longitudinal and transverse rods'having interlockingY connections, spaced lower plates independent of said'upper rods and rods extending there' through and interlocked therewith, said rods and plates forming upper and lower partitions to divide the'receptacle into compartments, and rods positioned below the before mentioned rods andextending through the plates and having interlocking connections therewith.

2. A- bottleV receptacle, comprising side and end members connected together to form a box-like structure with an open top and bottom portion, spaced .upper longitudinal rods having medial crimped portions,

spaced upper transverse rods having medial crimped portions which engage the crimped portions of the longitudinal rods and form an interlocking connection therewith, spaced lower transverse plates independent of said upper rods and having means for connection with the sides of the box, spaced lower longitudinal rods extending through the plates and having crimpedV portions coacting with the plates to form interlocking connections therebetween, said rods and plates forming upperand lower partitions to divide the receptacle into" compartments, and longitudinal "bottom rods positioned through the plates to form bottom portions for said compartments, said bottom rods having crimped portions which form interlocking connections with said plates.

A bottleV receptacle, comprising side and end members connected together to form a box-like structure with an open top and bottomY portion, spaced upper longitudinal rods having medial crimped portions, spaced upper transverse rods having medial crimped portions which engage the crimped portions of the longitudinal rods and lform an yinterlocking connection therewith,V spaced lower transverse plates independent of said upper rods and having lower reinforced edge p0rtions and angular ends for connection with the sides of the box, spacedlower longitudinal rods extending through the plates and having crimped portions which coact with the plates to form interlocking connections therebetween, said rods and plates forming upper and lower partitions to divide the receptacle into compartments, and longitudinal bottom rods positioned below the before mentioned rods and extendingthrough the plates to form bottom portions for saidcompartments, said bottom rods having crimped portions which form interlocking connections vwith said plates.
