To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CLARENCE D. Pm'rr, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Bridgeport, Conn., have invent-- ed new and useful Electric Switches, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates articularly to the mounting of switch hand es, and the objects of the invention are to provide a simple and practical form of mountlng which can be easily assembled and which when assembled will secure the switch handle in proper position.
This mounting consists of a bushing WhlOh is journaled in the support and is Provided with a flange or shoulder limiting the movement of the bushing in one direction, said bushing receiving the handle shaft, and a cross pm or other device being provided for securing the shaft in the bushing and for limiting the movement of the'bushing and shaft in the opposite direction.
This construction will be better understood from a consideration of the accompanying drawing wherein I have illustrated the invention embodied in a practical and preferred form.

The handle 5 for the switch illustrated is in the form of a rod or shaft having a cranked portion 6 connected with the movable switch element 7 by a link 8.
This operating shaft is journaled in the present disclosure, in the opposite side walls of the box 9.which inclosesthe switch parts, said box having for the purpose bearing openings 10 and 11 in its opposite side walls- 12 designates the supporting bushing jour-- naled in the bearing opening 11 and provided with an outstanding annular flange 13 at its outer end engaging the outer face of the wall to limit t the bushin One end of the operating shaft is engage and supported in this bushing said shaft being secured therein, in the present illustration, by a pin or key 14 passed Specification of Letters Patent.

In the construction shown, the parts are assembled by inserting the bushing in the bearing opening 11, with the flange atthe outside of the box and by inserting the shaft through the bearing opening 10in the oppo site wall of the box into engagement in its seat in the bushing, the securing pin bein then passed through the bushing and sha to secure the parts in this relation. The flange of the bushing then limits the longitudinal movement of the shaft in one direction and the securing pin limits the longitudinal movement of the shaft in the opposite direction, "and at the same time, the parts may be quickly disassembled upon withdrawing the-securing pin. In addition to providing a secure andeasily assembled mounting for the shaft, the invention provides also a neat finish for the shaft.

The combination with a switch box provided with a bearing opening in one wall thereof, of a bushing journaled in said bearing opening and provided with an outstanding flange limitmg movement of the bushing in one direction, aswitch operating member engaged in said bushing and means for securing said member in said bushing, said means forming a stop limiting movemeans for securing the shaft in the ment in the opposite direction of the bushing and operatlng member secured therein. 6. The combination with a switch box provided with bearing openings in the opposite walls thereof, of a bushing seated in ing in the opposite wall and into engagement in said bushing, said bushing and shaft havin complementary openings therein at the si e of the box wall opposite that engaged by the flange on the bushing and a securing pin passed through the said complementary openings to fasten the handle shaft to the bushing and to limit movement of the same toward the box wall.
7. An inclosed switch comprising the combination of a box having bearing openings in its opposite walls, switch mechanism mounted in the box, an operating shaft having an offset crank portion connected to the switch mechanism, one end of said shaft being rotatably supported in one of the bearing openings, a sleeve surrounding the opposite end of said shaft in the opposite opening, means on the exterior of said sleeve for preventing inward movement of the sleeve, and means {on the interior of the box for connecting said sleeve to said shaft, and preventing outward movement of said sleeve, whereby the shaft is prevented from longi-' tudinal movement in either direction.
