Description

C. FlSHBAUGH.
Improvement in Hounds for Vehicles.
N0. 1133;089, I Patented N0v.19,l872.
KM PHOTU-UTHUGRAPHIG COMYWSBURNEIS PROCESS) UNITED STATES PATENT FFICE.
CHARLES FISHBAUGH, OF TIFFIN, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT IN HOUNDS FOR VEHICLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 133,089, dated November 19, 1872.
of Tiflin, in the county of Seneca and State of Ohio, have invented certain Improvements in Wagon-Hounds, of which the following is a specification:
The nature of my invention is a new and improved mode of constructing hounds, for wagons, of wood and iron.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I proceed to describe the same; and hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, of whioh Figure 1 is the top side of said hound, and Fig. 2 is a section of the angle-iron used.
I use two straight pieces of wood of the required length and size, A A, Fig. 1, like those formerly used for the same purpose, and fitted to the axle-tree and sand-bar in all respects the same. To these I attach a curved bar of angle-iron, B, Figs. 1 and 2, by means of the bolts 0 (J. Other forms of iron may be used, but I prefer angle-iron, as shown.
The advantage in the use of this invention consists in having the wood used therein with all its natural toughness by avoiding all the injury it receives in the steaming and the straining of the fibers in bending, with the increased strength by the application of iron for the sway-bar, as shown, and, in case of breaking either of the two pieces of wood, the economy in renewing the same.
What I claim, and wish to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A wagon-hound the forward part of which I is made of wood and the rear and curved part of iron, substantially as described.
CHARLES FISHBAUGH.
