These patterns, toget ier with the method of putting them together, and together with the hand painted finished features make the rag dolls conform more nearly to human forms and constitute a new and valuable improvement in the art of making rag dolls.
Our patterns of all the sections of the doll are shown in the drawings. We obtain the completed head by stitching the back part of the head, Fig. 1, to the middle part of the head, Fig. 2, on a double thread sewing machine, the face sides of the cloth inside. This is then stitched in the same manner to the face, Fig. 3. This partially completed head is then reversed, so that the seams are inside, and filled with cotton. Infima same .manner the arms, the body, the legs and the feet are re ared. The head is then fastened to t e ody as follows: It is sewed securely to the body by it whi stitch; then the neck piece, Fig. 4, is olded and bound tightly so as to form the neck and is secured on both edges by a Whip stitch. This provides for a slight movement ot' the head. forward ond heel: ond laterally :ind is un improvement in the joinriire ot' the neck.
