T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, HOMER HOLLAND, a citizen ofv the United States, residing at Center, in the county of Saguacho and State of Colorado have invented certain new and useful. Improvements in Stock Saltin and Feedlng Devices, of which the following is a specification.

The present invention comprehends generally improvements in that class of.inventions known as animal husbandry and more particularly relates to a stock salting and feeding device. q I

This invention has for its primary aim and object toprovide a device of the above mentioned character designed to be readily maintained in a set-up position for receiving food and salt for stock such as sheep, the component parts being novel inconstruction so as to permit of the collapsing thereof in order that the device will occupyonly a minimum amount of space when not in use or when being shipped.

As an additional and equally important object this invention contemplates the provision of a device of the above mentioned character wherein the support is of novel construction and has associated therewith flexible trough and flexible covering flaps for the troughs to prevent rain from entering the troughs, While coacting means is mounted on the flaps and on the supports for releasably holding the flaps in a raised position so that the flaps will in effect form guards for preventing wasting of food and salt while the sheep are feeding.

It is a more specific object of this invention to provide a device of the above mentioned character wherein the troughs are of a peculiar and novel construction and are so mounted on the supports that the device cannot be easily overturned while the sheep are feeding.

Other objects, as well as the nature, characteristic features and scope of this invention will be more readily apparent from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the claims, forming a part of this specification.

Similar characters of reference'are em ployed in all of the above described views, to indicate corresponding parts.

Referring now, more particularly, to the accompanying drawings there is provided an improved support in the present instance consisting of a pluralit preferably four supporting legs 1, theinner adjacent ends elements 2 which of which carry connecting are pivotally arranged about the adjacent spaced seat portions of a substantially square loop 3. In this connection it is to be observed that the connecting elements are formeddesirably from pieces of strap iron which are bent to a U-shaped configuration and are fastened to the ends of the legs by fasteners 4 so that their intermediate portions are spaced from the inner ends of the legs which form substantial hinges 5 while the straight portions of the loop 3 constitute in effect a pintle.

It is believer 1 view of the foregoing descriptin that further detailed descrip tion oi the o eration oi the invention is eatirely unneressa Likewise, it is believed that the advantages of the invention will be readily apparen However, in this connection it is to be observed that on account of the slant of the supporting legs and the fact that the troughs are flexible the device cannot be easily upset by sheep or other stock rubbing thereagainst. Attention also particularly directed to the fact that t flaps when in a raised position torin guards by directing all salt or food which is dropped from the mouth of the sheep or stock back into the trough and in addition of course serve as a means for effectively covering the trough and protecting the food in rainy weather.

Still further en'ibodirnents of the invention than those herein especially defined may be resorted to as conditions or pret erence may dictate, may be in keeping with the hereto appended claims.

Having thus fully described the invention, what is claimed as new and desired to be sccured Letters Patent, is
