WAGON-BEACH and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact'description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to a wagon brace..
and more particularly to means for bracing the thimbles upon an axle of the wagon and has for its primary object the provision of means for obviating the danger of thimbles breaking under excessive strain and weight.
Another object of this invention is to provide truss rods carried by the bolster of an axle and secured to the thimbles, whereby the thimbles will be braced and prevented from breaking downwardly under excessive strain or weight.
A further object of this invention is the provision of means upon the thimbles for l fastening the ends of the truss rods thereto,
whereby they may be readily removed and renewed when desired.
A still further object of this invention is the provision of a wagon brace of the abovestated character which shall be simple, durable and efficient, and which may be manufactured and sold at a comparatively low cost.
With these and other objects in view will become more apparent as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
For a complete understanding of my invention, reference is to be had t0 the following description and accompanying draw ing, in whichy Figure 1 is a front elevation partly in section of a wagon brace, constructed in accordance' with my invention,

Referring in detail to the drawing, the numeral 1 indicates an axle of a wagon having mounted thereon in the usual manner fa bolster 2, which may be of any desired construction;
Mounted upon each end of the axle 1 are thimbles 8 having formed upon their inner ends flanges 4 which are provided with a' plurality of apertures for receiving truss rods which will be hereinafter more fully described.
Substantially Ueshaped clamps 5 are secured to the bolster 2 as clearly illustrated in Fig. 1 and have their arm or leg portions bent to form hooks 6 for receiving truss rods 7 upon each side of the bolster 2. The truss rods 7 have each end bent downwardly in an inclined plane, and screw threaded. The screw threaded ends being inserted through apertures in the upper ends of the flanges 4 and receiving nuts 8 thereon to support and brace the thimbles 8 to prevent them from breaking downwardly under excessive strain or weight.
A truss rod 9 has each end screw threadedv and extends parallel with the axle 1 and upon the under face thereof and has its ends inserted through the flanges 4 of the thimbles 3 and receives nuts 10 upon the ends thereof for securing the truss rod to the thimbles to prevent them from buckling or bending upwardly under excessive strain or weight. Referring to myl modified form of invention or means for securing the truss rods to the thimbles it consists of a clamping consisting of a pair of sections 11 and 12. This form of clamp is especially adapted for use in connection with ordinary thimbles now used upon wagons and clearly illustrated in Fig. 5, having the usual shoulders 13 which the wheels engage and the collars 14 located at their innermost ends. The sections 11 and 12 are placed between the collars 14 and shoulders 13 as clearly illustrated in Fig. 5, and secured thereon by means of bolts 15.
