Be'it known that'I, JAMES E. lVoo'r'AN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Tacoma in the county of PIQICQ and State,
of lVashington',' have invented a new and useful which the following is a specification.
The object of my inventionis to provide an improved machine for milling base ore of relatively simple construction and which will perform' the work without the use of so much water as is used in machinery heretofore devised for work. of this character. It is a particular object of my in vention to provide a machine which can be manufactured at small cost and which will These and othe1"objects of my inventionI attain by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a tion, with the troughs shown in section; Fig. 2 is a top plan'of my invention;
Fig. 3 is a vertical section on line 3-3 of Fig. 2;
Fig. at is a of Fig. l; and V Fig. 5 is a transverse section on line 55 of Fig. 2. v i
Like numerals designate like throughout the several views.
eferring to the accompanying drawings parts I provide a long trough 1 1-nto which the ore to be separated is fed from chute 18, overflow being prevented by the cover plate 17.. Trough'l is supported from a series Suitable arms 3 attached to the trough 1 are suspended adjustably by the screw eyes 4, which are adjustably supported from uprights'2 by suitable bolts 5.
vibratory motion is imparted to trough l by meansof link 6 and cam 7. Cam 7 is mounted on shaft 8, which also carries a pulley 10. Pulley 10 is beltedto pulley 11 on shaftl2. Shaft 8 is provided with a pulley 9, belted to a suitable source of power.
Mounted on the end of shaft 12 I provide a sprocket 13,conne cted by chain 14 to a suitable sprocket 15 attached to and driv- 16 which extends the length 1, approximately, as illusspout 19 at the opening into the of drippings at of the trough trated. I provide a short upper end of trough l and Specification ofLettersPatent. 1 v Application filed April s, 1919. swa azssaai washer 26 'and'a spout 21 Machine for Milling Base Ore, of

Patented- Oct. as, 1919.
In the lower end of trough I provide the series of spaced parallel plates 23 positio-ned close to t 1e worm 16. The lower end of the trough is provided with a cut-out through which the heavier -material separated is dis charged into trough 22. Positioned above and beyond spout2l is a spout 24 over which pulp must good work. the pulp is 16' discharges the heavy concentrates into trough 20. At the lower end of trough the spaced dividing plates separate the trough 1 is vertically adjustable by means of the screw eyes 1 and nuts 5. The cam 7 which has a link connection with the trough gives the latter a vibratory motion which causes the heavy sand to sink and the slimes to float. The worm 16 is connected by sprocket chain 1% with the shaft '12 which in turn is operated with the conthe latter is driven from any suitable source of power.
My apparatus classifies and separates the material into three grades.
What I claim is:
1. In a machine for milling base ore, the
combination of a vertically adjustable trough, a worm in the trough, spaced parallel plates positioned in the lower end of the trough in proximity to the worm, a spout through which material passing over trough a vibratory motion.
3. In combination with the apparatus described in claim 1, means for giving the trough a vibratory motion, and means for the discharge and collection of heavy concentrates. i
L. In a machine for classifying and separating ore into three grades, tion of a main trough, means for adjusting the inclination of the trough, a Worm extending; approximately the length of the trough, means for discharging the material with water into the trough,
Copies of this patent may be obtained for the combinas spaced plates at the lower end of'the trough for separating the material into two grades, adjoining troughs into which said material is discharged from the main trough, a trough at the upper endof-the main trough for the collection of heavy concentrates, means for rotatingthe worm'to discharge heavy cons centrates at the upper end of the main trough, and operatively connected means for agitating the main trough, substantially as 'and for the purposes, descrlbed.
