To all 'whom t may concern v Be it known that l, SINAi Lannoo, a citizen of the United States, resldmg at Worcester, in the countyof Worcester and Oom monwealth of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Devices for Joining Electrical Conductors, of which the following, together with the accompanyin drawings, isa specification.
' he object of my present invention is to f provide a readily applied device to an electrical conductor, preferably of the ilexible variety, by which an electrical connection may be made between said conductor and a supplemental or auxiliary conductor. An-
other object of my invention is to enablethe lines of conductors tobe multiplied from a single line, and further to eHect the junction of the supplemental lines at' any point of a connected line which may be desired, 'and these objects among others I accomplish' by the device hereinafter described, the features of novelty being, pointed out in the appended claims. l

The'interior wall of the contact chamber 6 is screwthreaded, as shown at 7, Fig. .7, and is closed by a pla-[g 8 having a slit 9 for a screw-driver. he hollow stem 2 contains the supplemental conducting line 10, consisting in the present instance of the two insulated wires 11 and 12, the free ends of which are clamped be tween washers 1'3 and 14. The washers 13 and 14 are held upon bindingscrews 15 and 16. Lying against the bottom of the contact chamber 6 and clamped beneath the washers 14 are wires 17 and 18, said wires terminating in pins 19 and 20 which pass through the nonconducting material 0f which the head is composed and project a short distance into the slot 4, as shown at 21', Fig. 7. The projections 21 are arranged to enable the pins of each pair to pierce the insulating vmaterial of the cable 22 on opposite sides of the conducting wires 23 and 24. The slots 4 ofthe screwthreaded boss 3 are placed on diametrically opposite sides of the boss and are justwide enough to admit the twisted `Wires of the` main cable 22 at their nari-cwest points 25,"as represented in Fig. 3, thereby determining the position of the twisted cable 'asit is forced upon the pins 21. v
When the main cable 22 has been placed in position in the screwthreaded boss 3, as shown by the dotted lines in Fig. 3, the cap 5 is screwed upon the boss with the compres#` "sion plug 26 entering the slot 4. 'Asthe cap 5 is screwed upon the boss 3`the plug, 26

My device may be employed in shops where an incandescent lamp is suspended over a machine, for the purpose of taking olf a branch line carrying a porta'ble lamp, for the purpose of'inspecting a machine being set up, adjoining bench. In such cases, a lamp can` be suspended from the cable 22, and a portable lamp attached to the line 10, which may be readily connected at any point to the mam cable 22.
My device will also'be found useful on shipboard, or in military trenches, where main line is liable to become severed, by allowing the supplemental line to be attached beyond the point of separation. My device is particularly adapted to forming a. junction with any flexible line consisting of a twisted cable, as the position of the cable upon the pins 21 is predetermined by the width of the slots 4 which can only admit the cable at its narrowest points 25, 25, as represented in Fig. 3, and asthe staggered pins 21 are so disposed that they would pierce the'pinsulation on oppositesides of the conducting. wire, as already described. As the space between the slots 4, 4' is wider than the slots, the two members of a twisted cable such as that shown at 22, Fig. 1, and by lating material broken lines in Fig. 3, will be pressed down against the pointed spurs 21 by the plug 26.
I claim, Y
1. The combination with a head of insuhaving a screwthreaded boss on one side, provided with a diametrical slot to receive a flexible cable forming part ,of an electrical Circuit, of a supplemental cable held by said head and havmg pointed terminals rojecting into said slot, a screwthrea ed cap engaging said boss, and a swivor for furnishing light at aneled plug carried by said cap and entering said slot.
2. The combination of a cylindr1cal. head of insulating material provided with a transverse slot, a supplemental electr1cal cable carried by said head provided w1th pointed terminals entering said slot, a {lernble cable forming'part of an electr1cal circuit and held in said slot, a plug inclosed 1n said slot and bearing against said flexible cable, and means for forcing the plug against the flexible cable.
3. The combination of a head, pointed terminals carried by said head and insulated therefrom, a screwthreaded boss projecting from said head and having a slot to receive av twisted cable, a screwthreaded cap carried by said head, and a swiveled plug carried by said cap and entering said slot, and a supplemental cable carried by said head and electrically connectedwith said terminals. f
4. The combination with a slot to receive a held by said head, pointed terminals held by said head and electrically connected with said second cable, a cap having a screw threaded connection with said head, and a plug carried by said cap and inclosed 'in said slot, said cap being capable of rotating independently of said plug.
5. The combination ot' a head provided with a slot to receive a cable, a second cable held by said head, :pointed terminals held vby said head and electrically connected with said second cable, a cap having a screw threaded connection with said head, and a plug carried by said cap and'rotatable independently of the cap, said plug projecting beyond said cap.
6. The combination with a head of insulating material having a screw threaded boss on one side, provided with a diametrical slot to receive a cable comprisingtwo individual strands, with the central portion of said slot wider than its ends and having the ends of said slot slightly wider than the diameter of the individual strands of which the cable is composed, of a supplemental cable having pointed terminals entering the wider portion of said slot and on opposite sides of its center, a screw threaded cap engaging said boss and a plugeld in said slot gearing against said cap.
