IMPROVEMENT IN PREPARED PAPER FOR KEEPING QFF MOSQUITO ES- Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 131,242, dated September 10, 1872.
To all whom it may concern: 7
Be it known that I, J ULEs BAQUOL, of. the city,.and county of Baltimore and State of Maryland, have invented a new and Improved 7 Prepared Paper for Keeping oif Mosquitoes;
and I do hereby declare the following to be a full and exact description of the same.
The object of this invention is to cause mosquitoes to keep away from human beings. The invention consists in a paper prepared with the ingredients hereinafter described, which paper, when rubbed over any portion of the body,leaves thereon a sufficiency of said ingredients to cause mosquitoes to keep away.
The paper aforesaid is prepared by first rub- I bing oviit with a sponge a thick solution of camphor in alcohol. A sheet of paper thus prepared I is covered with a sheet not so prepared, and this with another sheet of the prepared. paper. '1 A pile of sheets is thus built up,
every other one of which is rubbed with the camphor solution. This pile is subjected to a gentle pressure in any suitable press, and allowed to remain therein for forty-eight hours, after which it is taken out and each sheet rubbed with a small quantity of oil of aniseseed, after which it is vready for use in the manner aforesaid, and proves itself a most effectual article for the purpose. One application of the paper suffices to keep mosquitoes away for twelve hours. The ingredients are in no wise deleterious or unpleasant to any of the senses.
What'I claim as new is- As an article of manufacture, paper prepared with a solution of camphor and oil of aniseseed, in the manner and for the purpose described.
